Central Park

Shock to no one that I went back to the park for a second time.  It's literally my favorite.  Saturday morning, we ate breakfast at the Laduree restaurant down near Soho and walked a bit through the area before taking a taxi up near our hotel.  I was on a little bit of a mission.  I had just recently purchased this bag that I wore the beginning of our trip but I was on the hunt for the one I'm wearing here.  I loved seeing the monogram a lot of other people have but I desired the all black bag as it's something a little more classic that I can wear to work and out and about.  I have been dreaming about this bag since I saw it online.  I went into an LV store in Orlando but they were all out and told me that it was unlikely that any store would have any in soon.  The first day I was in New York, I went to both LV stores and the boutique in Saks had ONE bag.  As I thought more about it, I started feeling guilty about indulging and treating myself.  My husband kept trying to buy it but I said I wanted to think about it even though I not so secretly wanted it badly.  It's strange because before kids, I didn't think twice before I bought something for myself, now with kids, I literally think of every little detail and try to talk myself out of everything.  Sure enough, the next day, the bag was gone.  As we walked through 5th Avenue to get to the park, we meandered into the 5th Avenue LV store, and there it was!  As I was trying it on in front of a mirror, two other women were asking for it and I could hear the women asking the SA if they could purchase it.  It was just meant to be and although it was definitely a splurge and I'm done buying handbags for a long time, it is my favorite bag ever.  I've been wearing it non-stop since buying it and immediately put my stuff in it in the store and walked out (after paying, of course).

As soon as we got to the park, I promptly took out my Laduree macarons (yum!) and walked through until we got to the Boathouse.  We bought some pretzels, people watched, the weather was perfect, and, ugh, take me back!  It was another great day in the city.  In the afternoon, we freshened up at the hotel to get ready for dinner and to see my little sister hard at work at Saturday Night Live!

Hamilton

I'm pretty sure that I'm the last of the Miranda's to see Hamilton the Musical.  As I saw more and more family members go see the show sometimes multiple times, the FOMO was reaching an all-time high.  We planned this trip around the tickets to Saturday Night Live that my sister got for us and, thankfully, Hamilton tickets were available for us the night before SNL.  Score!  It was so amazing to see people camping out before the show and to feel the energy of everyone going to see the show that night.  Although it was my first time seeing the show, I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop so much so that Lucas has some of the lyrics memorized and regularly asks for "Luisito's song" (he thinks that Lin-Manuel is actually his dad, my uncle)  Needless to say, the show was AMAZING and if you are ever able to get your hands on tickets, GOOOOOOOO!!!!!

New York State of Mind

This week I'll be sharing the trip my husband and I took to New York City a couple of weeks ago.  We took a quick weekend getaway trip without the kids and, as much as I missed them, we had the most wonderful time!  It was a weekend full of shopping, Hamilton, Saturday Night Live, oh my!  We even ate at restaurants and weren't rushed or flustered in order to prevent a toddler or baby meltdown.  It was our first trip together since having kids.  We've been on vacations before just had the kids with us.  It was great to sleep in for once and just wander around the city we love so much.  Our first night, my sister met us at our hotel, New York Palace, and took us to see her office at Rockefeller Center which was just a block or so away.  It was great to see a glimpse into her fabulous life in the city.  For you Gossip Girl fans, the Palace hotel is where Serena and her family lived.  The hotel was amazing, spacious, and in the perfect central location.  Plus, I have no shame in admitting I'm a Gossip Girl fan :-)  Our first stop after sleeping in was to go to Central Park and see the Gapstow Bridge where my husband proposed to me 8 years ago.  It was just as beautiful as I remembered it.  My favorite thing to do in the city is to walk around the park.  I can't wait to hopefully go back next year and bring Lucas because I know he will love running around Central Park.  After a full day of walking, shopping, and eating, we went back to our hotel to get ready for dinner at Southern Hospitality (so yummy!) and then to see Hamilton!  Photos of that to come in the next post!

xoxo, Gossip Girl (sorry had to!)

Another Striped Sweater

I don't know how many striped sweaters and shirts I own but it's a lot and it's never enough.  I just love a good striped top or sweater.  I've recently began purging my closet and getting rid of things I haven't worn in over a decade really.  I found a top that I work in one of my sorority functions and I graduated college in 2005...and...it was a striped top.

Weekend Down Time

Because we are so busy during the week, it would make sense that we would like to just stay home on the weekends but, it has become healthier for all of us to get out of the house and be busy at least one of the weekend days.  It comes to no surprise to those that know us that we are a Disney family, Disnerds really.  With our annual passes and living so close to the parks, we regularly go but on the weekends that we stay home, it feels nice to get out of the pjs and enjoy time at the park or at a kids play area.  Part of working through my working mommy guilt is to feel like the time I do have with my kids is precious and not wasted.  I want my kids to know that even if I'm working, when I am home with them, I am hands on and enjoy being with them.  And I couldn't help but sneak in the bottom photos of Olivia!  I mean look at those thighs!  I'm obsessed!

Back and Ready

What is this?? What is this?? Remember me??? Yes, folks, I'm back.  I took a super long blogging break but I'm excited...to be back!  Honestly, I was overwhelmed with work and other priorities that I was taking horrible care of myself and, thus, blogging took a back seat.  I'm not ashamed to admit that after having Olivia, my post-partum depression was at an all time high and with going back to a high paced career and adjusting to life with two kids, it took it's toll on me.  Thankfully, although I don't ever think my working mommy guilt will ever go away, I'm getting a better handle on things and life is great.  I'm looking forward to continuing this blogging adventure and posting about life lately including an amazing trip to New York just my husband and I took!  Oh and I also have been shopping!  For reals though, I feel like I haven't shopped for myself in forever and it finally feels great to buy a nice handbag...or two...

Oh and I'm also training for a marathon!  So.Much.To.Tell.You.
