Holiday Blues

Oh it was hard getting up to go to work today.  After almost a week off for the holidays, it's depressing when it's over and real life begins again.  We had a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday this year with my whole family.  My sisters, who all live out of state, came home and Lucas was in Auntie heaven.  I got most of my holiday shopping done which is awesome!  I may even have snagged the Tory Burch bag I had on my wish list during the Tory Burch sale and by "may" I mean I definitely did!  It will be the perfect work bag.  I can't believe we are already in December!

2015 Gift Guide Wish List

Candle  /  Bag  /  Cleansing Gel  /  Tumbler  /  Sweater  /  Pants  /  Shoes

This is just a random pile of things I've been keeping my eyes on for future sales.  I haven't made any really big purchases for myself in awhile and it usually takes a really good sale for me to pull the trigger.  Of course, I finished my Christmas shopping for Lucas and now I have everyone else to shop for...online of course.  I'm not brave enough to face the crowds so much praise to those of you who can do the Black Friday crowds!  Happy Holiday shopping!

Weekend Photo Diary

Weekend Errands Outfit
Sweater: Nordstrom (LOVE!)  /  Shirt: J.Crew Factory  /  Pants: Nordstrom  /  Shoes: Nike  /  Bag: Tory Burch

We had a nice and relaxed weekend running errands, catching up on orders for The Dainty Planner, and had a nice little BBQ with family.  I rarely dress up on the weekends since I have to dress up during the work week so I prefer comfy on those days I'm not at the office.  I just recently started having the decency for humankind to at least put on mascara and concealer on the weekends just in case I ever run into clients while out and about.

While in Sephora, I repurchased a favorite hair product of mine - Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun.  When I first bought this, I wasn't sure how to use it but I found that it was THE PERFECT DRY SHAMPOO (yes, that required all caps).  I just hate the price.  I find myself wanting to use it every day but, ugh, the price.  If anyone else knows of a good alternative, I'm all ears.  Until now, this is one of my favorite hair products.  I also kept on decorating for the holidays which puts me in the best mood.  Lucas helped and by helped I mean he kept taking down to play with the sweetest Fisher Price Nativity Set we bought last year.  I also bought the cutest Santa pillow from Kirklands.  I am so so excited to put up our tree this weekend and for a short work week!  Happy Monday indeed!

The Dainty Planner

I hinted last month that I was working on a project and here it is...on October 13, 2015, I officially opened my planner sticker Etsy store, The Dainty Planner!

It's no secret around these parts that I love my Erin Condren Life Planner.  Decorating and planning became such a fun hobby.  I starting planning over the summer and I can't even explain how much planning has helped me in my every day life.  I, like many of you, juggle a lot: mother, wife, attorney, cleaning, different schedules, blogging...the list is endless.  One of the biggest things that gave me anxiety was feeling like my schedule was not my own and my to-do list at work never ended.  I was at a breaking point where I felt like I just couldn't do it anymore, something had to give.  While on vacation over the summer, I fell down a rabbit hole of watching "Plan With Me" videos on youtube and I discovered life planners.  I immediately placed an order for a planner and scoured Etsy for stickers.  A couple months into planning and I realized that planning completely helped my anxiety in ways I couldn't imagine.  Actually breaking down what I had to do and making it fun by decorating eased my nerves for the week to come.  I also realized that I was going to need lots of the same stickers so I watched tutorials and decided to order a printer to make my own stickers.  One of the first stickers I made was Real Housewives stickers because duh.  I enjoyed it so much but I was limited with my photoshop skills and so I asked my husband if he would help me.  Knowing how much planning has helped me, he happily obliged.  I ended up really loving the stickers we were making so I said to him, "why don't we open a store?"  He was happy to help me in any way I needed and I really couldn't have done this without him.  And so The Dainty Planner was born!

Before we opened, I spent a couple of weeks sketching everything I wanted in the store and giving my husband time to be able to make the stickers on the computer.  We also did a lot, A LOT, of trial and error testing out different cuts, ink, and paper.  When we found the perfect mix, I opened an Etsy store account on October 13, 2015 and only listed a few things since it was all we had.  We completely make everything in the store and did not purchase any clip art so it took a lot of time to build up inventory.  Basically, we would come home from a long day at work, play with Lucas until bed time, then from about 7 p.m. until sometimes 2 a.m., we would be making our own clip art, taking photos, and listing them in the store.  But, it was a lot of fun!

I thought that I may have like one sticker sheet sold in the first month; however, one month into sticker making and, at the time of this writing this post, we have had 442 sales, 153 star reviews, and 246 admirers!!!!!  That is crazy!  Needles to say, we have been extra busy but it has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.  The planner community is such a welcoming, embracing, and positive place and I'm happy that The Dainty Planner is helping people get organized!  Although, I've started this new venture, I very much will still be blogging because that's one of the reasons I got into planning - to help me with a blog schedule.  So it has been a hobby with a purpose and, I'm pretty much smitten.

If you are a planner girl or are curious about planning, I have a planner related IG, @thedaintyplanner, where I've been posting store info, my weekly layouts, and other planner goodies!

Rewearing Clothes Again

I wear this cardigan blazer thingy probably more than I should.  I LURVE it.  In fact, I re-wear a ton of stuff which is probably why I can't take outfit photos everyday because you would be life, ummm didn't you wear that last week?  After my son was born, a switch went off in me that said, only buy things that you love.  The reason why this switch happened after my son was born was because I felt very guilty spending any money on myself.  I'm not sure why, maybe because I felt every dollar I had should be spent on him and his savings, but I felt guilty every spending money on myself.  I work full time so the necessity to wear office clothes every day was there so I decided to only buy things that I love.  And I think I've kept this up.  My closet isn't us busting at the seams as it used to be but I love everything more than when I was buying all of the things.  Food for thought :-)

Weekend Photo Diary

The weekend started out on a somber note as we watched on tv the horrifying events happening in Paris.  Paris holds a special place in my heart.  My entire adolescence, I dreamed and prepared for an imaginary trip to Paris so much so that I opted to take French classes 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.  A dream was finally fulfilled when my husband and I honeymooned in Paris for what was the most magical week and a half of my whole life.  It was devastating to see the heinous acts committed to such a beautiful place and people.  I'm sure others can also relate that it was a somber weekend.

To the most superficial transition of topics, I wore the above outfits Saturday AND Sunday.  I did do laundry on Saturday so my clothes weren't dirty, but for reals, two days in a row.  I love these leggings from Nordstrom and my long sweater is a MUST!  It's hard to tell in the photos, but the sweater is a deep burgundy and so incredibly soft.  On Saturday, I ventured out during Lucas' nap to do...shhhh...more christmas decoration shopping...shhhhh.  My husband made me promise to not decorate until after Thanksgiving but I couldn't help myself.  I started with the snowflake pillow I mentioned last week and for a whole week, the hubs didn't notice.  So on Saturday, I couldn't help myself and bought the multicolor deer pillow from Target, ornaments from Michaels, and the chair covers from the dollar store.  I think I would have been in the clear if it wasn't for the chair covers.  Yeah, the chair covers gave me away so now I really had to promise I wouldn't decorate...until next weekend ;-/

In case you are wondering what it's like to be the mom of a rambunctious two year old boy, here's a glimpse into what it's like 100% of the time.  #carseverywhere #legoseverywhere #knockingintowallsallthetime
