Weekend Photo Diary: My Little Sister Is Engaged!

The biggest and most awesome thing happened towards the end of this week...my little sister got engaged!  I am so excited for my sister to be marrying the wonderful and talented, Jeremy Groves!  Lucas loves his Uncle JJ and we are all just so happy for them both.  He proposed to her in Lake Tahoe and all of the photos they sent us were gorgeous!  We knew he would be proposing this week but did not know what exact day so I was so anxious to learn all the details.  Let the wedding planning begin!

Lucas just finished his first week of school and while Monday his report was "happy" and "playful,"  Wednesday was a whole different story.  On Wednesday, we were told that he was tearful which just broke my heart.  My little boy is just not a crier - never has been.  He's the kind of kid that when he's sick or hurt, brushes himself off and you would never know he wasn't feeling well.  On Friday, when we picked him up, we were told that he was tearful but doing better.  Ugh, I'm hoping it gets easier.

Onecklace made my week by sending me these adorable necklaces!  I'm a monogram lover and although I see that the trend is to wear the super big Mr.T monogram necklaces, I'm still loving the smaller versions.  The necklace on the left has our wedding date engraved.  I'm going to be wearing these a ton this week!  Definitely check out these necklaces and if you use the Onecklace promo code maria10 you will get 10% off your purchase!

Speaking of necklaces, I'm still in lurve with this one from Design Darling!  Don't mind the scrubby clothes I wore to run errands this weekend...

It was just one of those days where Lucas just couldn't make up his mind.  Boots on, boots off, wants Mia in his room, pissed Mia is in his room, wants Olaf in his tent, does not want Olaf in the tent...toddlers are tough.

This weekend I organized my planner supplies.  Yup, yup, my planner has supplies.  I have gone full out planning and it has been amazing!  I've been using my Erin Condren planner now for about 3 weeks and I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful it has been.  During our beach vacation, one night I fell into a rabbit hole of watching "plan with me" videos on youtube.  Since then, I've been slowly purchasing planning stickers and supplies on Etsy, Target, and Michaels.  Since I've been planning, I have noticed that I am much more efficient at finishing my to do list at work and just feeling less overwhelmed in general.  The planning and decorating part is definitely my favorite - I'm able to have a creative outlet and it has a purpose.  I'm telling you, I have become a full blown crazy planner lady.

Below is what my week looks like on Sunday nights before the start of the week.  I don't fill everything in the first day since things can change.  I find what works best for me is to fill in what I can and know won't change, then the morning of, write in the tasks I want to accomplish for that day.  I blurred out some of my tasks since I use client names but this is generally what it looks like at the start of the week.  If any of you are planners, let me know what your favorite Etsy shops are!

Lady in Red

So Lucas' first day of school went well, thankfully.  His report from his teachers was that he was happy, playful, curious, and ate all of his snacks (duh).  When we got him and he was running about, I could hear him humming a song.  I know that they sang lots of songs that day and that little hum made me feel a little better about him going to school.  He's learning, playing with other children, and hopefully, learning to be independent.  Ugh, silver lining right?  I hope this gets easier :-/

Weekend Photo Diary: Getting Ready for "School"

Pay no attention to the chaos happening behind me.  Lucas was kindly cleaning my vanity using my MAC brushes and Mia was barking at him to jump in the bed with her.  Yes, this is my fancy life.  This weekend was an errands full kinda days trying to get everything in order for Lucas' first day of "school" today.  WAHHHHHHHHH!  I'm a mess and I cannot even lie.  Ugh.  That boy has made me such a mush so I hope he loves it and doesn't think I abandoned him.  Here's to hoping for a great week...

Long Button Down

Lately, I have been allllll about tunics and oversized shirts.  I like to dress them up, dress them down, and basically live in them.  At least a couple days a week, I do have to dress more conservatively due to meetings, hearings, etc. so I love this J.Crew Endless shirt.  I normally wouldn't post a side-view shot because, umm hello, but I wanted to show how long it is.  It's like a button up tunic which is the best of both worlds for me.  Anything I can do to still look professional and be comfortable at the same time is right up my alley.

Because It's Easy

I just love how easy the dress + cardigan formula is.  Whenever I'm running late, a dress and a cardigan is my go to even if it's kind of boring.  I try to throw in a necklace or some sort of accessory to make things interesting.  Even if it gets tangled like mine clearly is in these photos, I think accessories are great completer pieces.

Favorite Eye Shadow Palettes

I just love eyeshadow palettes.  I, embarrassingly, have more palettes but the ones above are my favorite.  I switch it up and sometimes just use one palette a day or use different colors from others to create one eye look.  I definitely stick to neutral palettes since because of what I do for a living but I love putting eyeshadow on.  I'm not much of a lipstick girl so eyeshadows are my thing.

Custom MAC palette: I picked my own shades for this palette and, for me, it's the perfect neutral palette.  I have another MAC palette that I made but that one has all bright and colorful shadows that I rarely use, honestly.  But this one gets used almost daily.  The colors in mine are: Blanc Type, Brule, Mylar, Naked Lunch, All That Glitters, Dazzlelight, Yogurt, Kid, Cork, Satin Taupe, Swiss Chocolate, Espresso, Patina, Mulch, and Woodwinked.

Urban Decay Naked palette:  Aww, my beloved Naked palette.  I also have the second one but the original gets used a lot more.  I mainly use the colors Buck and Naked but I've pretty much used all colors at some point.  I gravitate towards brown colors which is why this one of the series is my favorite.

Urban Decay Basics palette:  This is a great everyday use palette and I almost always bring this with me when I travel since it's neutral but can be built up to be dramatic.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette: I LOVE THIS FLIPPING PALETTE!  I DO!  And I don't just love it because it smells like chocolate but it doesn't hurt.  I seriously love this palette so much and use the darkest color to line my lids every day.  This is the perfect perfect work and everyday palette but it also has bright colors if that meets your fancy.  Seriously, you need this palette in your life.  If I only could have two palettes, it would be this one and the Urban Decay Basics palette.

Stila Mind Palette: I received this palette as a gift and love the matte colors.  The entire palette is matte which I like to wear during the day.

Bareminerals palette:  The colors and price point sold me on this one.  I was drawn to the coral color and the others match it perfectly.

Wet n Wild palette:  Don't knock this until you try it!  I think I paid like $3.00 for this and it was worth it!  I also bought Comfort Zone and I am seriously impressed.  I even noted MAC dupes with this.  I highly recommend!
