That Time I Didn't Have My Sh*t Together

So I went to work in this get up...a sweater AND necklace put on backwards.  Did anyone tell me?  Nope.  I realized it when I was going through these photos that night.  It was a long 9+ workday too.  Thanks everyone.

Most days I feel like I'm just trying to function.  Just trying to keep all the balls I'm juggling in the air.  From far away, it may seem like someone has their sh*t together, and I begin to doubt if I'm just doing it all wrong.  But up close, it's a backwards sweater and necklace, so maybe we aren't all perfect and it's going to be ok.  How's that for deep on this lovely Monday ;-)

Striped Shirt Problem

So if there is one thing I don't need any more of in my closet, it's another striped shirt.  But I just cannot stop myself.  As much as I tell myself that I only want to buy clothes that I truly love, I just can't help a good striped shirt.  I seriously have a striped shirt problem but I can't say I mind.  I dress for the day I anticipate so I was okay wearing a tee to work as I hoped to stay put in my chair and gets tons of stuff completed.  So another striped shirt was necessary ya know.

Skincare Routine

Because I'm super nosy, I love reading posts about people's skin care, makeup, and hair routines.  I even love those "what's in my bag" posts.  Love them!  So, I thought I'd share my skincare routine for those of you who are just as nosy as me ;-)

I'm very much into skincare and always have been.  I try to get a facial every couple of months because I love the feeling of knowing my pores and skin are cleaned out.  Sounds gross but it's the best feeling for me.  I have normal to oily skin so my day routine may seem like a lot to some but I've been doing it for years and it's what works for me.  I think a lot of it was trial and error, seeking information from my dermatologist and estheticians, and reading up on products.

As you can see from the pictures below, my products are well loved.  I wash and moisturize my face morning and night and think I've found my perfect mix but I would love to hear any suggestions on products you love!

The first thing I do in the evenings is use the MAC Cleanse Off Oil to remove my eye makeup and mascara.  I have extremely sensitive eyes and if I leave any trace of makeup on at night, I will wake up with an eye infection.  The cleansing oil is the best remover!  It literally melts the makeup away.  I highly recommend this product.

After I removed my eye makeup at night, I use a Simple makeup wipe to remove my makeup.  Since my makeup has probably been on 9+ hours, I need the extra help to remove all of my makeup.  I like that these lightly exfoliate my skin to remove any dead or dry skin.

I use my Clarisonic Mia with the Philosophy Purity soap maybe once or twice a month.  I know the Clarisonic can be a love or hate item but I happen to love it.  When I do use the Clarisonic, I skip the step below so that I don't dry out my skin.

I use this Clean and Clear soap day and night.  At night, I use it right after the makeup wipe.  I find that it is gently on my skin, does not dry it out, and removes makeup effectively.

These products were sent to me by Obiqo to try out a couple of months ago so I wanted to give it time before I did a review.  I'm happy with these products and will likely order more after I run out.  I'm using the Obiqo facial serum and the Obiqo Randiant Day Cream.  After I have washed my face, I apply a dime size of the toner and follow up with the day cream.  Although it is a day cream, I use both of these at night only.  The glide on my skin smoothly and I really like the scent as well.  I find that it gives my skin a nice glow and my skin feels smoother in the mornings.

Moisturizing my skin with this Ponds moisturizer is the last step in my morning skin routine.  This moisturizer was a random purchase I made for my travel bag and I ended up loving it more than the moisturizer I was using.  I love this product for the morning because it almost acts like a great primer for my foundation.  I do use the Benefit primer afterwards but the Ponds acts like a great binder.

So this sounds like a lot but this is what works for me and my skin is soft and mostly blemish free.  I'd love to hear and read about your skincare routine!

Swingy Tops

I certainly never dress for the weather because I literally melted in this outfit.  Melted.  But it's okay because as soon as I sat at my desk, I froze.  Froze as in freezing.  I know I talk about the weather a lot but it literally occupies a lot of time in my head.  It's so flipping hot so swingy sleeveless tops are now my jam.  I want a million of them and then more.  I spotted some more sleeveless tops at Target over the weekend so I may buy every single color and convince myself that tank tops are office appropriate because I'm not totally convinced yet.  Riveting stuff here.  It's the heat.  The heat is making me cray...and boring.

Weekend Photo Diary: 4th of July

We had such a great three day weekend that I am getting sad it's over as I type this post.  My husband and I had Friday off so I got a haircut while Lucas napped and afterwards we went for a Target run, of course.  On Friday night, we went with my parents to a fireworks show that the town I live in does every year.  This is the first year we have gone with Lucas and I was anxious to see how he would react to the noise.  As you can tell in the picture below, he loved it!  He kept looking up and saying WOW!  Now, I want to take him back to Disneyworld to see the fireworks show probably in a couple weeks.  We even gave him a sparkler for a hot second, literally, because, of course, he wanted to touch the fire.  Our favorite part of the show is when the orchestra starts playing the official songs for our armed forces and asks for those who have served to stand while their song played.  My dad always stands with pride when the Army song plays as he proudly served the army for ten years.  Lucas strangely stood when the Navy song played and when it was over, he sat back down.  Maybe he's foreshadowing the future.  Sunday was a relaxed day and we hit the pool early then did a little shopping afterwards.  I'm so sad the weekend is over but I definitely feel rested for the work week.  Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Trust Me

It's best that neck up not be shown.  I may or may not have gone to work with wet hair...it was one of those mornings.  Luckily, I did not have any meetings and it was just a day working at my desk.  I'm patiently waiting for someone to invent a machine where I can step in two minutes before I need to head out the door and it will dress me and do my hair and makeup.  One day.
