Mother's Day 2015

So I can attest to how comfortable the Jack Rogers Clare Wedge is because as you can sort of see in the pictures below, I have a very active little boy and I spent most of my time running after him today.  Mother's Day 2015 was amazingly amazing.  Yep, amazingly amazing.  On Saturday we headed off to Disney's Magic Kingdom and it was shockingly not terribly busy so we were able to go on all of the rides we wanted to and, of course, met with some of our favorite Disney character friends.  I shared on my instagram account a picture of the three of us in matching shirts...we are now those people.

Sunday, my family spoiled me rotten.  The day started off with homemade belgian waffles, a nice lunch with my mom, and ice cream, of course.  It was a wonderful day and I hope it was a great weekend for all.

The Day My Toddler Locked Me Out of My House

Check out that smug look up there.  I felt pretty put together.  Work went okay.  I got a lot done.  I picked up Lucas after work and then drove home.  I got home and lit up a delightful candle my sister gifted me me.  The dog made a mess while we were gone so I opened the bathroom door to clean up the mess.  My husband calls and says he will be little longer because he was picking up dinner.  No. Big. Deal.  I grab some trash and go into the garage to throw said trash away and then my heart drops.  BOOM. CLICK.  LUCAS LOCKED ME OUT!!!  I, of course, go into freak out mode.  THE CANDLE!  THE BATHROOM DOOR IS OPEN!  THE DOG IS WITH HIM!  I tried my best to calmly ask him to unlock the door to no avail.  He begins to wail and scream.  I haven't met my new neighbors yet but what better way to introduce myself than to run barefoot towards their house completely drenched in sweat and tears?  They kindly let me use their phone so I could call my hubby and tell him to slam on his breaks.  So good news is I know who my neighbors are.  Bad news, they think I'm crazy.  I run back to the house and, in this very outfit, proceed to try to break the door down.  The whole ordeal couldn't have been more than 7 minutes but it felt like an eternity.  My husband opened the door from the other side and came home to me and Lucas both screaming.  So right before Mother's Day weekend, I have an EPIC MOM FAIL!  I can't explain what a horrible experience that was and just thinking about how scared Lucas must have been makes me cry all over again.  Ugh.  At least I looked put together today ;-)

Accessorized

I've lately regained by obsession with accessories and shoes.  I know, who loses interest in accessories but I did.  My sweet husband recently gifted me with this beautiful Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace in Mother Pearl and I wasted no time in wearing it.  It was to be a Mother's Day gift but I don't mind receiving it a little early.  Don't mind if I do.  I also have gone on a shoe buying spree.  SPREE I tell you!  During my pregnancy, my feet grew an entire size.  One. Whole. Size.  I thought I would be able to fit into my old shoes eventually but two years later and my feet are still ginormous.  I tried to get away with wearing one or two pairs of shoes but people I work full time all day long and apparently I like to beat my shoes up.  I'm not going to lie and say I've hated having to buy new shoes because I don't hate it.

PS One of my favorite bloggers, MK, posted a similar outfit yesterday hence why I lurve her style!

Relax

I must admit that when I first started this blog, I tried way too hard.  I wore outfits just for the sake of the blog.  I've never shown something on here that I didn't wear in real life, as in put the clothes on, took pictures, then got into my real clothes to start the day.  No judgment for those who do that, I just don't have the time and energy for it since blogging is not my full time job.  I think I was too scared that no one would want to read if I wore simpler outfits.  That was three years ago and, now, although I have not made it rich off of the blog, I much more enjoy blogging and showing simpler things because not only is it more comfortable but I feel like I am being more honest.  If that doesn't translate in followers, analytics, moolah, that's okay but I like Dainty and Decadent and hope you do to.

Pastels

I recently started getting up one hour earlier than I usually do and it has made so much of a difference.  One, it has made it possible for me to continue blogging since I have that extra time to get ready in the morning but, most importantly, it is my "me" time.  After I get ready, I make myself a bowl of cereal and brew some coffee and catch up on my Bravo shows and blog reading.  In fact, have a little bit more time in the morning allowed me to catch up on Tara's blog and see this post which inspired my outfit!

I've always been a morning person but trying to get ready and take care of a rambunctious toddler is something crazy.  Lucas is awesome but oh so rambunctious.  Oh. So. Rambunctious.  I wouldn't have it any other way.
