Walking on Sunshine

Who else is excited for Halloween?  This 30 year old grown lady is hella excited!  We and by we I mean just I have an annual tradition of watching Hocus Pocus aka best Halloween movie ever while eating worms in dirt (chocolate pudding with gummy worms and oreo crumbs on top).  I can't wait for Lucas to be old enough to take part in the tradition and for trick or treating.  We're dressing Lucas up this year as Superman.  Superman is my husband's favorite superhero and we found a cute costume that doubles as pajamas.  Win win!  My first Halloween, I think I was Starbrite and was Starbrite for like 5 more Halloweens in a row!

PS: Thank you ladies for the baby clothes website recommendations!

ETA: A lot of people ask me or tell me that they missed out on the sequin bow cardi from J. Crew that I wear religiously and this morning, I saw one pop up on J.Crew factory!  Here's a link to the factory version that is practically identical: Sequin Bow Cardigan.

Tights for Fall

The weather here has gotten cool enough for tights and I couldn't be happier.  Am I the only one that uses tights as an excuse to miss a day or three to shave the legs?  TMI?  I used this weekend as an opportunity to pull out warmer clothes and clean out Lucas' closet.  I was so so sad having to put away some of my favorite outfits of his because he grew out of them.  It was also a wake up call that he is growing too fast.

To snap out of sadness, I did some online shopping and bought him yummy fall goodies!  Woot woot!  I seriously have way more fun buying baby clothes than clothes for myself.  I definitely need to pace myself since he grows so fast but it's not my fault that Etsy and GAP have the cutest stuff for babies.  I am LOVING all the Etsy finds lately.  I used Etsy a bunch for my wedding - one of my favorite finds was our flowergirl tutus!  I'm sure that if I had a baby girl I would be going crazy buying bows but for my little guy, I've been scouring the site for leggings.  Any good recs for baby leggings on Etsy or any other site?

Leopard and Black

I plan on being totally predictable this weekend and looking for fallish things to do.  I can't help it.  The fallen leaves, the bold colors, apple cinnamon candles burning, and holiday decorations...they put me in a good mood dangit!  I'm not sure where one would go about looking for fallish things to do but if there's a way, I'm going to find it and hopefully fallish things to do includes cupcakes...must include cupcakes...

Plaid Daze

Most of my posts lately have been about or with Lucas because, well...he's quite literally my whole world right now.  I've been back to work for about 5 weeks now but I still have not settled into a good morning routine.  Most mornings are spent running around trying to put on my makeup in 5 minutes and make a half decent/presentable pony tail in order to make it to work on time.  Before becoming a mom, I spent most every weekend lounging around the house and although I still do that, we are making an effort to get out more with the baby so he's not so cooped up anymore.  I admit that I was one of those mom's that never went out with the baby before his vaccinations so not that he's been vaccinated, we're having so much fun get him outside more often!

I mentioned on Monday that we skipped the fall festival this year because of the warmth and crowds, but I still wanted to get out of the house on Saturday.  Since Lucas is quite inquisitive these days and grabbing everything (my hair is his personal favorite), we went out for an evening walk and to my parents house for dinner.  As we were sitting on the bench, my husband noticed that Lucas had grabbed a little souvenir, a fallen leaf.  He stared down that leaf and would smile and laugh at it.  I love seeing his little personality coming through.  We have plans for more family outings this weekend and, hopefully, the weather is nice so he can wear more cardigans.  I mean, really?  Cardigans for babies?  I DIE.

Oktoberfest 2013

One of my favorite fall traditions is going to Oktoberfest and the fall festival.  We decided to skip the fall festival this year because it was during the day and too warm for Lucas to be outside for a long time but we did take him to Oktoberfest Friday evening.  I remember last year seeing all the little kids running around in costumes, getting their faces painted, or running towards the snow cones and thinking, one day, I'll be bringing my own little one to the festivities.

My favorite part of Oktoberfest is the Halloween festivities that go on like the dancers performing "Thriller" in the street and the creepy decorations all around.  Lucas, however, was definitely not a fan of the loud music.  At one point he started to almost cry which breaks my heart every time when I see his bottom lip stick out.  Although he was too little to enjoy Oktoberfest, and even though his onesie says "Never Grow Up," I look forward to the coming years and letting him run loose, face paint, costume, and all!

Three Months Old

My baby is three months old today!  Ahhhh time needs to slow down!  I have a feeling I'll be saying this every month but this month has been the best!  He's gotten so big and his personality is really showing through.  Now that he's much more alert and awake most of the day, we've come to realize that we have a very active son.  Below are some of his monthly milestones.

I love his little hands!  In fact, so does he.  He's discovered his hands and loves stuffing his whole hands in his mouth.

Probably the biggest development is that he learned how to fully roll on his stomach and he is now a tummy sleeper.  The only problem is that he doesn't know how to roll from tummy to back so he wakes up screaming.  Ugh, any advice is more than welcomed!

He's discovered Mia and they love each other.  Mia worries when he cries which I think is the sweetest thing.  He also loves making faces.  He smiles and laughs so much!  It melts my heart to see him smile.

He now has a bedtime routine that involves bath, bottle, and bed.  He starts getting sleepy at the same time every night and will sleep for a whole 10-11 hours uninterrupted!  YAY SLEEP FOR ME AND H!!

Two of his favorites: Napping on daddy and clutching his blankie for dear life.  We both love the Aden Anais security blankets!

Check out this big boy sleeping in his crib!  He sleeps so much better and longer now! 10-11 hours of uninterrupted sleep and I am one happy momma!  I kept making excuses as to why he should stay sleeping in our room but H and our pediatrician convinced me to move Lucas to his own bed.  I selfishly miss him sleeping near me but he is sleeping better now and that makes me happy.  We removed the bumper we originally had in his bed and replaced it with mesh bumpers.  They came highly recommended from our doctor and are great for babies that like to stick their arms or legs through the crib bars like Lucas does.  Bumpers are controversial but I did my research before Lucas started sleeping in his crib which is why I removed the cloth bumpers.

This boy LOOOOOVES his Fisher Price kicking piano!  His favorite part is definitely looking at himself in the mirror.  He could stare at himself for hours.  I love this toy and highly recommend it!
