Pumpkin Patch 2016

Last weekend, we took the kiddos to the pumpkin patch which is one of my favorite fall traditions.  It was Olivia's first time at a pumpkin patch and she was quite the diva.  Just like her mama, she's not the outdoorsy type and let us all know it.  Lucas, as always, had a great time and wore himself out on the bouncy houses and slides.  This was also to first real outing as a family.  I hardly ever left the house during my maternity leave because Olivia caught a cold early on and I wanted to stay indoors as much as possible before her vaccinations.  It was wonderful to be out and about and gave me a glimpse of all the fun outings we have to look forward to in the future.

Broadway and Baseball and Birthdays, Oh My!

I have been very MIA around these parts and thought I'd play a little bit of catch up.  I'm about 35 weeks pregnant now and work has been keeping me so incredibly busy...like trial after trial busy which is why I've been absent from posting.  In the time I've been away on a blog break, lots of great things happened:

1. My cousins are taking over the world...really.

In one week, one cousin was drafted to play major league baseball for the Minnesota Twins (and he's only 17!) and the other cousin's Broadway show, Hamilton, swept up the Tony Awards.  I'm always proud to be a Miranda but that week was quite the proud moment.  I hope that my babies got some of these amazing Miranda genes since they seemed to have skipped me!  I can't play baseball to save my life and definitely can't carry a tune so I'm happy that these two are making Miranda a household name :-)

2.  Those Disney nights...

Another Disney weekend trip happened before I, unfortunately, have to retire Disney for the summer.  Crowds, heat, miles of walking, and full term pregnant just isn't a good mix for the parks right now!  But how beautiful is the Disney Boardwalk?!

3. Another year older...

I celebrated another birthday, another year older, recently which meant that the hubby and I got to go on a date night.  We enjoyed tapas, no tinis this year, at a favorite restaurant and had a great time just the two of us toddler-free!

4.  The Boys Club...

Lucas is such a daddy's boy and if he dada isn't within eyesight he'll run around the house yelling "I FIND DADA RIGHT NOW!"  Well, ok.  It's adorable and I can't wait to see what kind of big brother he will be in a few weeks!

Life Lately: Little Sister's Nashville Wedding

Long time no see!  It's been quite a few weeks and I'll try to catch up as I start blogging regularly again.  Throughout the past couple weeks, I've been on and off bed rest due to ongoing Braxton Hicks contractions.  I'm still working full-time, so I've been balancing taking care of my body, working, Lucas, life, etc. so unfortunately, blogging went to the bottom of the totem pole.  We also just got back from Nashville for my sister's wedding which are the photos I'm sharing below.

My sister got married at the Nashville Symphony which was an absolutely beautiful venue!  I was maid of honor and little Lucas was a ring bearer.  His bow tie, suspenders, and Chucks outfit was too too cute!  Shockingly, not only did Lucas walk down the aisle but he was the perfect angel throughout the ceremony and sat quietly on my sister, Ana's lap.  I didn't want to jinx it so I tried not to make eye contact with him!

We had such a great time spending time with family and celebrating Melisa and Jeremy.  It was also special to spend Mother's Day in Nashville with all of my family.

Lucas sitting quietly as the girls got their hair and makeup done.  Can you tell that I emphasize when he's quiet?  He's definitely a firecracker!

I mean...I mean...

Lucas was in heaven with his Aunties!

Mom, sisters, and I

FYI Finding a maid of honor dress to wear at 7 months pregnant was no easy task but I went with this similar J.Crew dress and had it altered like no other.

The happy married couple.

This was such a sweet gift from my sister!  She and I love this Burberry perfume and she had it engraved which makes it extra special :-)

Weekend Photo Diary

It was a busy busy weekend for us and it felt good to finally be up and about.  For the past couple of weekends, I had been taking it easy since getting lots of Braxton Hicks contractions.  I had an appointment last week with my doctor and learned more about what to do when the contractions come on so I've been slowly working up to do more activities but then slowing it back down a bit.  Since the weather was amazing, we decided to go to Epcot at Disney World early since it's leisure park and one of my favorites.  Thanks to our fast passes, we went on Lucas' favorite rides, Nemo and Mexico, took pictures with characters, ate our favorite food in France and Norway, all before 1 p.m.  Instead of heading straight home, we decided to venture out to IKEA.  It was such a successful shopping trip too!  Since we're turning Lucas room into a big boy room this week, we picked up a dresser for him, toddler eating table, and a dresser/changing table for the new nursery.  I'm so excited for the dresser/changing table!

Sunday was equally busy as we bought paint for the furniture and picked up lots of goodies for the nursery at HomeGoods.  We also spent a good deal organizing the nursery since it has been a storage facility of all our junk from the move.  I also started organizing baby girl's clothes and closet which was too much fun for me.  Below are some snapshots of our busy weekend:

Sweater: Nordstrom (THE COMFIEST SWEATER EVER!)  /  Shorts: Old Navy  /  Necklace: Kendra Scott  /  Shoes: Tory Burch

Lucas: Shirt  /  Shorts  /  Shoes

How sweet is this romper pictured below?!  It's from Bailey's Blossoms and it is just too sweet!  The bow is one of a hundred my sweet Aunt made for baby girl :-)

The kids are all set to visit my little sister and family in NYC someday!  The Yankees outfits are ones my dad bought for baby girl which makes me laugh because when my sisters and I were little, my dad bought us all Yankees outfits as well and we joked that we looked like little boys.  My dad is such a huge sports fan and he ended up with 4 extremely girly girls.  He and Lucas are extremely close and because of my dad, Lucas has more Yankees tees than I think Derek Jeter had!  The Piccolini NYC shirt was just too cute to pass up for Lucas.  These cute clothes are now making me miss the city!  I'm hoping to go for a weekend after the baby is born :-)  The teal shirt is from OshKosh.

Weekend Photo Diary

We had a busy weekend that started out with our first Easter Egg hunt of the year.  Lucas is a pro and takes it VERY seriously.  Our friends throw a great Easter Egg hunt every year and it's always a fun time.  Check out the determination below!

On Sunday, we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom and my mom joined us as well.  Lucas is really into Lion King/Guard, Tarzan, and Finding Nemo so we knew he would love this park as well.  He so loved the Festival of the Lion King show and walking the trails to spy on some gorillas and zebras.  I absolutely love experiencing Disney through him.

Yeah, I just really don't enjoy shopping for my little girl...not one bit...Ok, I'm obsessed.  Even my mom told me to slow my roll.  It's just so hard when everything is too darn cute.  This sleeper below has to be one of my favorites because it's a "Central Park" graphic sleeper.  Central Park holds a special place in my heart as it's where my husband proposed to me.

These two cuties are from Carter's and I just could not pass up jelly sandals!

Top and Shoes (both Carters)

And holy cow does Target's Oh Joy and Pillowfort collections have me like whoa!

{Magical} Weekend Photo Diary

It was another magical weekend at Disney World as we spent Saturday back at the Magic Kingdom.  We are very lucky to live not too far from the parks and we enjoy every visit to see our friends Mickey, Donald, and Goofy.  We decided that since Lucas is tall enough to ride the kiddie Goofy roller coaster that he would go on the ride with his daddy.  Sadly, I missed out on his first roller coaster ride since I'm pregnant but I got to take video from below.  As tame as the ride may be since it's meant for children, Lucas was lukewarm about the ride.  The rest of the day, he would remind us that the "choo choo train" made him sad.  He breaks my heart and melts it all at the same time.  Other than that, he had a great time meeting the characters and going on the truly kiddie rides.  What made this trip really exciting is that Lucas had been asking us to take him back to Disney and whenever he'd get in the car with both me and my husband, he'd assume we were going to Disney.  I love that he realizes where he is and tells us that he's having a good time.

Lucas even helped pick up some toys for his baby sister and insisted on an "Anna" doll versus Elsa.

On Sunday, I tried my hand at a little DIY project as the nursery is still a work in progress.  In fact, the room is basically a storage/guest/computer room at the moment...

Before having children, I was that super obnoxious and judgmental person who would see a screaming child in public and think, I would never let my child behave that way.  Well, I'm getting back and then some for all the times I judged when I should have minded my own business.  Yep, I was this mom at Target...letting my child lay down under the cart in order to prevent the 1,450,649,675 meltdown of the day...

Weekend Photo Diary

What was suppose to be another Disney weekend ended up being an errands weekend since we are all still trying to get over a bad cold but thankfully we were productive!  If we aren't going to Disney or have something going on, we usually stay low and at home on the weekends since our week is usually busy.  Below is some stuff we got around to doing:

1. Baby Girl Stuff

My timehop showed me that on this day three years ago, I had Lucas' nursery completely decorated and about a billion outfits in his closet.  Baby #2, though...nothing accomplished :-(  We plan on using our guest room as baby girl's room since I refuse to give up our playroom.  The playroom is a dream come true!  During Lucas' nap on Saturday, I shopped my little heart out buying cute baby girl clothes and picking up things on her soon to be nursery.  I posted the photo above on my instagram and personal facebook page and too many people were telling me that they thought they were having a girl/boy and the baby ended up being the other.  Now, I'm so scared!  I'm thinking I should hold off maybe buying so much but baby girl stuff is so cute!

We also spent Sunday looking for furniture and organizing the garage in order to move everything from the guest room out.  I just can't believe I had Lucas' nursery completely decorated at this same point of my pregnancy with #2!

2.  The Almost Threenager

My not-so-little Lucas is two and a half with 100x the attitude.  Holy moly.  He recently started pointing and saying NOW whenever he wants something and he fully knows what "now" means.  I sometimes can't believe how much he knows since he is just 2 years.  I love him but man oh man does he give us a run for our money.

3.  Jogging Preggo Style

Because I was so out of shape during my last pregnancy, I'm trying to be more active with this one so that my recovery maybe won't be so bad.  I've continued jogging on the weekends and my workout clothes are definitely in need to be maternity now.  Any recommendations for maternity work out clothes?

We had a nice and relaxed weekend running errands, catching up on orders for The Dainty Planner, and had a nice little BBQ with family.  I rarely dress up on the weekends since I have to dress up during the work week so I prefer comfy on those days I'm not at the office.  I just recently started having the decency for humankind to at least put on mascara and concealer on the weekends just in case I ever run into clients while out and about.

While in Sephora, I repurchased a favorite hair product of mine - Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun.  When I first bought this, I wasn't sure how to use it but I found that it was THE PERFECT DRY SHAMPOO (yes, that required all caps).  I just hate the price.  I find myself wanting to use it every day but, ugh, the price.  If anyone else knows of a good alternative, I'm all ears.  Until now, this is one of my favorite hair products.  I also kept on decorating for the holidays which puts me in the best mood.  Lucas helped and by helped I mean he kept taking down to play with the sweetest Fisher Price Nativity Set we bought last year.  I also bought the cutest Santa pillow from Kirklands.  I am so so excited to put up our tree this weekend and for a short work week!  Happy Monday indeed!

Weekend Photo Diary

The weekend started out on a somber note as we watched on tv the horrifying events happening in Paris.  Paris holds a special place in my heart.  My entire adolescence, I dreamed and prepared for an imaginary trip to Paris so much so that I opted to take French classes 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.  A dream was finally fulfilled when my husband and I honeymooned in Paris for what was the most magical week and a half of my whole life.  It was devastating to see the heinous acts committed to such a beautiful place and people.  I'm sure others can also relate that it was a somber weekend.

To the most superficial transition of topics, I wore the above outfits Saturday AND Sunday.  I did do laundry on Saturday so my clothes weren't dirty, but for reals, two days in a row.  I love these leggings from Nordstrom and my long sweater is a MUST!  It's hard to tell in the photos, but the sweater is a deep burgundy and so incredibly soft.  On Saturday, I ventured out during Lucas' nap to do...shhhh...more christmas decoration shopping...shhhhh.  My husband made me promise to not decorate until after Thanksgiving but I couldn't help myself.  I started with the snowflake pillow I mentioned last week and for a whole week, the hubs didn't notice.  So on Saturday, I couldn't help myself and bought the multicolor deer pillow from Target, ornaments from Michaels, and the chair covers from the dollar store.  I think I would have been in the clear if it wasn't for the chair covers.  Yeah, the chair covers gave me away so now I really had to promise I wouldn't decorate...until next weekend ;-/

In case you are wondering what it's like to be the mom of a rambunctious two year old boy, here's a glimpse into what it's like 100% of the time.  #carseverywhere #legoseverywhere #knockingintowallsallthetime

Weekend Photo Diary

It was Christmas at the Magic Kingdom this weekend!  We were hoping the parks still had some of their halloween decor up but Disney wasted no time and decked the parks out for the holidays.  And I must say, it was magical.  Disney + holiday decor + holiday music + magic = I.Can't.Even.  The park wasn't too crowded and since I take out our fast passes a couple days before we go, our wait time for rides couldn't have been more than 5 minutes.  Lucas, as always, had a great time and we really enjoy taking him to the parks since we get to experience the magic of Disney through him.  Since we had a busy Saturday, much of Sunday was spent lazying around, minus the time when Lucas busted open his lip.  Any other boy moms out there that can relate????  Oh, and I went to Target for dog food and instead bought Christmas decor and holiday clothes for Lucas...Target does it again.

I just couldn't resist buying Lucas these holiday PJs and that Grinch sweater at Target, I mean c'mon!  The little snowflake pillow below is from Target's Dollar Spot and I just learned that Target is doing away with the Dollar Spot and instead making that area "Bullseye's Playground."
