Summer Florals

Lately, I've been loving bright, fun colors and patterns.  Seen as though this time last year I was wearing the same black dress because it was the only thing that fit my massive preggo belly, colors and variety is such a nice change.  J.Crew Factory has really hit it out of the park this season and I love that I'm able to find prints I didn't get the chance to purchase at J.Crew.  I'm sort of on a shopping hiatus since I'm saving up for furniture at the new house but that doesn't mean that I can't dream shop and if I accidentally hit the checkout button and oops I get a confirmation email with my order, that's okay too ;-)

The Duck Pond

Leaving the house has not been easy and, in fact, I think I've only been out two or three times since I had Lucas in July.  I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and the hospital I go to has a duck pond that my mom would take me and my sisters to when we were little.  I left the house in a rush but as soon as I saw the duck pond, I immediately thought to take Lucas to see the duckies.  Well, he's only 6 weeks old so he was more interested in sleeping but I couldn't help but think of the times my sisters and I would run around the pond, feeding duckies, getting messy and, now, I can bring my own child here.  Hopefully, when he's older, he'll enjoy the pond more and create his own memories.

Floral Maxi

I'm back!  I've been failing at blogging lately.  I don't even have long hair anymore (these pictures were taken before my haircut).  The last couple of weeks have been hard on my body.  It's the last couple weeks of pregnancy and I'm feeling it - extremely swollen, uncomfortable, back aches, chest pain, nausea, exhaustion, you name it.  I'm still working and probably working more than I should be right now.  I decided to try to slow it down in June because, honestly, the health of my baby is more important.

I'm feeling better now (as long as I'm not outside...grrrrr Florida summer heat!) and nursing mode has fully set in.  Since I'm not buying clothes for myself for obvious reasons, my cravings lately have been beauty products, clothes for Lucas, baby knick knacks, and cleaning supplies.  Yep, cleaning supplies.  Last Saturday, I woke up and decided that none of my cleaning supplies were doing the job and stocked up at Target.  Some women get food cravings, I get buying cleaning supplies cravings.  Go figure.  Happy Monday!

Plum Bows

Sweater: J Crew  /  Tank: The Limited  /  Skirt: Motherhood Maternity  /  Shoes: MIA  /  Sunglasses: Dior  /  Handbag: Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM

This is quite the deceiving top as it definitely does not show the massiveness that is my belly right now.  Dressing for work at 7 1/2 months pregnant has been interesting.  If I could wear my husband's pjs/sweats to work (all that will fit me) I would.  However, I can't.  Most of my outfits are very very basic.  I hardly ever venture into my closet anymore since I'm now just rotating between like 4 different outfits.  The old me would be going crazy but right now I just want to be comfortable.  The baby is getting so big that I'm much more comfortable in dresses with cardigans.  I can't complain though.  I've been lucky to have a pretty normal pregnancy with hardly any sickness so if my biggest problem is finding something to wear, I'll take it!

Big Girl Purchases

Happy Monday!  Maybe if I tell myself 'happy Monday' I'll actually believe it.  My husband and I are about done with Lucas' nursery and bought things off our registry that were left.  Luckily, our friends and family were extremely generous at our baby shower last weekend so we didn't have to buy too many things.

We made two big purchases: the stroller and car seat.  You know you're old when you are excited about buying a stroller and car seat.  My husband was grinning from ear to ear and looking up pictures of the two items.  We chose the Britax Chaperone car seat and Bob Revolution SE Jogger.  It feels so good to check things off our list.  Next up is signing up for baby classes...I need all the help I can get!

Bright Dots

It was a drabby and rainy Saturday but I wasn't going to let that stop me from getting on the move.  Saturdays are usually my stay at home, no makeup or fuss kind of day, but this Saturday, I had plans to go to brunch with other preggo ladies.  It was fun swapping stories over breakfast especially because we are all so close in due dates.

I copied this outfit from MK at Outfit Posts.  I initially tried to button up my cardigan but that was laughable.

Stripes and Dots

Just, you know, testing the seams on my pre-maternity clothes and they're barely holding together.  My husband sweetly said to me the other day that if I really need more maternity clothes that he would be happy to go shopping with me...big mistake buddy ;-)  I obviously took him up on his offer and picked up just a few things that I hope will be enough to take me through these last couple of months.  Of the things I bought, one was a dress I'm planning on wearing to my baby shower!

Hoppy Spring

Hoppy Spring...that's hoppy because Easter is this weekend.  Get it?  Okay, thanks!  (Note: I've never claimed to be clever.)

This week flew by!  I'm hoping for life to slow down a little so I can enjoy this moment in my life.  No complaints coming here, just blissfully hoping that Mondays turn into an extra weekend day!

Office Bump

The days here are getting nicer but, unfortunately, the combination of pollen and just sickiness has me feeling gloom.  Luckily, I'm able to work from home at times but I'm one of those weirdos that actually prefers to get work done at the office.  I'm trying to rest up though because it is so nice out and I'd like to do as much as I can now before the baby comes.  I find myself opening the door to the nursery and spending a couple minutes in his room wondering what it will be like when Lucas is here ;-)

Oh and a big thank you to those of you that helped me figure out how to block out spammers.

Over the Bump

I'm trying to be creative and expand my closet without purchasing new items.  In an effort to do so, the only way to wear this skirt now is to zip it up over the bump.  At first, I thought I was a genius but after an hour sitting at work, I remembered the magic of maternity bottoms.  Ahhhh maternity bands!

Camo Houndstooth

My husband and I have been working a little later than usual so by the time we get home it's dark outside.  We aren't picture taking savvy enough to know how to take night time photos so pictures in the early morning it is for now.
I look thrilled and so much like a morning person, right? :-)
I purposefully bought this dress a size bigger so that I could grow into it the next couple of months.  I was drawn to the pattern which is a mix of camo and houndstooth I think.  I'm definitely becoming more and more a dress person because they are easy and comfortable.

Flirty and Girly

Pink stripes and leopard together?  I'll go with it for now.  I'm not very adventurous when it comes to pattern mixing and tend to stick more to the matching side of things but every once in awhile I feel spontaneous.  For some, this mixing may seem bland but for me, less is more.

Owls in Florida

I've talked about my owl obsession here but now I think I'm just loving all things with actual animal images on them.  I find this animal trend so whimsical and fun that I'm happy I spotted this sweater at Old Navy for a reasonable price.  With trends, I don't like to spend too much and this sweater was right up my alley.  Anyone else loving this animal trend?

Candy Aftermath

I may or may not have taken a stash of candy from my mom's house.  I like to think of it as saving those little kids from cavities.  No matter how old I get, Halloween is always an excuse for me to eat as much candy as I can the whole night long.  It's so worth the guilt I feel the next day and the urge to almost want to spend the whole day at the gym.  Almost.

Goodbye October

Is it possibly the last week in October?  No.  Not possible.  Fall has finally just arrived in Florida. It was laundry day so baggy clothes it was to run errands.  I'm thinking of those of you up north, especially my little sister and family...please stay safe!

Distractions

To say I get distracted easily is an understatement.  It was extremely hard to not watch the golfers mainly because I  had no idea people golf at 7 p.m.  I don't mean to offend but I don't golf and right after I took these pictures I threw on a huge pair of pajamas because that's what I do at 7 p.m.  To each their own, right?  Happy Weekend!

Yuppie Blues

I recently received an email from someone in law school (don't worry, not gonna call you out!) asking for advice about school, etc.  I know I don't talk about work mainly because this blog is my "fun space" but one of the things I have enjoyed most about blogging is connecting with others.  Law school was an extremely difficult time and, although, I am by no means perfect and can give excellent advice, I've been there.  Every day I learn something new.  Every day I am humbled by the people I meet and the clients I see.  Just when I think I know everything there is to know about lawyering, something pops up and I'm back to researching.  Just like blogging, it helps to seek others and talk about similar interests.  Have I mentioned how much I love the blogging community?  :-)

Fancy Pants

Holy moly, it's my favorite day of the week!  I truly love Friday evenings more than any other time of the week.  We're planning on going to Oktoberfest tonight and, of course, watching the Florida vs. South Carolina game on Saturday.  ESPN Gameday will be here so I hope we're able to go watch :-)

Orange Crush

I'm so looking forward to catching up on my blog reading this evening.  I've been neglecting blog reading and other things lately because of work.  I've even been neglecting reality tv, the horror! Oh and I wish my photographer aka hubby would let me know when I've done a crappy job tucking in my shirt! :-)  Happy hump day!
