McIntosh Festival

Blogger fail.  We were only able to snap two photos before my camera died :-(  The rest of the photos are from my Iphone.  My mom and I love coming to the McIntosh festival every year.  It's a huge art festival but my favorite part is all the yummy food!  We indulged in corn dogs, homemade potato chips, and homemade peanut butter ice cream :-)  Fun fact about McIntosh and the nearby town Micanopy, it's where the movie Doc Hollywood was filmed.

Distractions

To say I get distracted easily is an understatement.  It was extremely hard to not watch the golfers mainly because I  had no idea people golf at 7 p.m.  I don't mean to offend but I don't golf and right after I took these pictures I threw on a huge pair of pajamas because that's what I do at 7 p.m.  To each their own, right?  Happy Weekend!

Yuppie Blues

I recently received an email from someone in law school (don't worry, not gonna call you out!) asking for advice about school, etc.  I know I don't talk about work mainly because this blog is my "fun space" but one of the things I have enjoyed most about blogging is connecting with others.  Law school was an extremely difficult time and, although, I am by no means perfect and can give excellent advice, I've been there.  Every day I learn something new.  Every day I am humbled by the people I meet and the clients I see.  Just when I think I know everything there is to know about lawyering, something pops up and I'm back to researching.  Just like blogging, it helps to seek others and talk about similar interests.  Have I mentioned how much I love the blogging community?  :-)

Hocus Pocus

Halloween apparently came early this year!  Not gonna lie but the sun is doing all sorts of weirdness to my hair, eyes, and face in these pictures.  The brightness made my eyes look glassy and hair red but it didn't make my legs red; those are tights, silly.  I have to poke fun at myself because if I don't who will....oh, my husband who said I look like an avatar because my hair is covering my neck will.

Okay enough self deprecation, anyone recognize the title of my post?  If not, shame on you!  Hocus Pocus is one of the greatest films of all times.  Well, top halloween film for me.  Last year, I bought the DVD along with Teen Witch and The Worst Witch...you know, other great films.  I'll be the cool girl watching these movies on halloween.  I'm super cool you see :-)

Blue Trees

Nope.  That's not a photoshop trick.  Those really are blue trees.  The University of Florida campus has turned some of its trees blue and it truly is amazingly beautiful.  The artist, Konstantin Dimopolous, painted the trees blue as a social statement to raise awareness for the importance of the survival of trees.  If you're interested, you can learn more about the artist and his project here.

Sweet Everythings

I'm going to be sweet and sappy today...doesn't happen often.  Here goes.  My husband and I have been married for two years but together 12 1/2 years.  We, also, work at the same law firm.  Because we have been together for so long and spend a lot of time together, it takes a lot to surprise one another.  Last week, my husband came along to one of my hearings that was out of town.  The hearing took the whole day and I was exhausted.  On the drive back home, he says to me that he didn't know what kind of mood I would be in and then he hands me his Iphone.  Confused, I turn his screen on and see a shopbop invoice for this lovely Rebecca Minkoff bag!

I've been drooling over this bag for so long and seeing it on the oh so stylish Noelle of Beautygirl24 in this gray color solidified that I really wanted this bag.  I over think every purchase I make but my husband is impulsive.  This time, it worked in my favor because I am so in love with this bag!  It's the perfect size, color, and so versatile (straps are changeable).  What I love most about it, is that my husband bought it for me and after all this time together, he can still surprise me :-)

Orange Crush

I'm so looking forward to catching up on my blog reading this evening.  I've been neglecting blog reading and other things lately because of work.  I've even been neglecting reality tv, the horror! Oh and I wish my photographer aka hubby would let me know when I've done a crappy job tucking in my shirt! :-)  Happy hump day!

Basically Basic

It's true, my style is simple.  Is that a bad thing though?  I always go for comfort over style but try to balance the line of trying to look nice while still feeling comfortable.  Although there isn't much excitement with this outfit, it's comfortable, and for me, that's okay :-)

Gingham Style

I feel so out of the loop on what is popular nowadays.  It's crazy to realize how much my priorities have changed.  Some for the better and some for worse.  However, I consider being up to date on pop culture top priority...just kidding...maybe...I just recently jumped on the Gangnam Style bandwagon and if you haven't seen or heard the video/song, I highly encourage it and the SNL skit to accompany.  I don't know what the song means and probably should have found out before recommending it.  Hmmm, I will consider that thought in the future :-)

Southern Prep

I am such a stinkin' hypocrite in this outfit.  See, the top portion makes you think it's actually fall whereas the bottom portion is a reminder that I live in Florida.  I'm one of those people that is always cold.  Cardigans and sweaters are a must for me.  Here's to hoping for a great week :-)

Grandfather Shirt

A couple years ago, my grandfather came from Puerto Rico to stay with my parents for a little while.  I was living in Jacksonville at the time but would come visit every weekend to spend time with him.  He used to wear a shirt, similar to the one I'm wearing, all the time to the point it got a hole in it.  He asked me to throw the shirt away since he couldn't wear it anymore but I must have gotten it mixed in with my laundry since I found it in my suitcase when I got back home.  He passed away shortly after but I never threw the shirt away and keep it on my blanket throw stand for safe keeping.  It's an odd memento to keep but warms my heart whenever I catch a glimpse of it.  Has anyone else kept odd mementos?
