Abstract Greens

I'm linking up today with the lovely Tara of Mix and Match Fashion for her What I Wore To Work linkup.  As I've mentioned before, I'm cycling through maternity clothes and realize that I have settled on basics.  Lately I've tried to still wear my pre-pregnancy clothes but as these photos plainly show, this poor Anthropologie cardi is struggling!  Oh well.  Small price to pay for a (fingers crossed) healthy baby boy :-)

Spaced Out

Pregnancy hormones are annoying.  I'm the first to recognize that I can be a world class monster biotch and the next second be super sweet (well, to an extent).  What has caught me off guard though is pregnancy brain. Whooooaaaa.  For example, on Monday, I was looking forward to watching OC Housewives on Bravo.  I got my juice ready on my night stand, positioned my Snoogle, but there was still 5 minutes left until the show started.  I decided to watch another channel until Housewives started.  The whole time I'm watching this other channel, in my head, I'm thinking how much I can't wait to watch the new OC Housewives.  I look at my clock and decide to click over to Bravo and the flipping show is over!  I completely spaced out.  What do I decide to do at this point?  Cry. Cry.  I cried.  I cried because I spaced out and missed Housewives.  This was a pointless example but just goes to show how crazy town my hormones and emotions are recently.  Can anyone relate??  Anyone??  Just lie and tell me yes...

Welcoming Spring

It was a gloomy and rainy weekend but I'm ready to welcome the breezy, sunny Spring weather.  I'm not sure how "Springy" my wardrobe will be this season because I'm not buying much of anything these days and my old clothes no longer fit.  I did break my shopping ban on Thursday by purchasing the sandals I'm wearing in these pictures at Target.

Since I only do my pregnancy updates once a month, I didn't want to forget that on Friday I started feeling distinct kicks!  Since then, he's been kicking up a storm.  I don't mind because I think it's adorable and I love that my husband can now feel the baby kick.  If you follow me on instagram, you probably already saw that I did some more damage baby clothes shopping for Lucas on Saturday.  Every one tells me to not buy too much because babies grow so quickly, but it's so hard not to!

On an annoying note, I don't use word verification on my comments because they can be annoying; however, the other day I received 20 "Anonymous" spammer comments within the span of 5 minutes.  Does anyone know of another way to block out these spammers without word verification?

Casual Stripes

Jacket: Forever 21  /  Dress: Old Navy  /  Shoes: Tory Burch  /  Handbag: Louis Vuitton

I loved this outfit on Franziska of Franish so I decided to recreate it preggo style.  In December, I purchased a bunch of maternity clothes (before my shopping ban) and since I had no clue on sizing, I ended up purchasing items that are currently too big on me--like this dress.  It was only $4.00 though so I'm not too upset and I know I will eventually grow into it.  I probably should have tried things on in the store but (a) doing anything productive during my first trimester was a bust and (b) I'm lazy.

Bump Style with DCinStyle

Words cannot express how excited I am about collaborating with Elena of DCinStyle today.  I've been an admirer of her art and blog for awhile.  She's so amazingly talented and created the art work above based on our photos.  This print is definitely going in my baby's nursery!

Elena is also pregnant so we decided to both incorporate patterns and colors into our bump style for this collaboration!  I encourage you to visit Elena's blog so you can see how super talented she is and such a cute mommy to be!

Out of Element

Shirt: Old Navy  /  Shirt: Forever 21  /  Pants: Gap Maternity  /  Shoes: DSW  /  Handbag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

This past Saturday, my husband, mom, and I ventured out to Buy Buy Baby.  That store is crazy!  It's literally a Bed Bath and Beyond but just baby stuff.  I was so overwhelmed and out of my element.  I've never been very good at buying anything for children and even worse buying things for boys.  I had fun looking at the little toys and clothes but when I realized how many things a baby actually needs, my mind got scrambled.  Just being honest :-/  I realized that I need to do more research but thankfully I've got some time.

Abstract

Dress: Old Navy  /  Sweater: J Crew  /  Shoes: Sole Society 'Kelly'  /  Handbag: J Crew

Dresses make me so happy.  They are easy and forgiving.  However, there was a time that I despised dresses.  Middle school Maria was NOT a fan of anything girly.  I didn't hit my girly peak until the summer between the 8th grade and 9th grade.  No matter what anyone said or did, I could not have cared less about what I looked like in middle school.  Looking back, I wish someone could have been like "hey, why don't you brush your hair" or "maybe your dad's t-shirts aren't the best things to wear" but, honestly, it wouldn't have mattered.  Dad's old t-shirts and ratty hair was my norm.  I cringe at those super awkward photos that now happen to be my husband's "favorite" of me...he's evil I tell you...

Berry Lines

Excluding a dress I accidentally purchased from the maternity section this summer, this sweater is my very first maternity purchase.  Even though this sweater was in the Gap Maternity section, I don't really see what makes it "maternity."  It fits a little looser and longer so those are the only differences I see.  In regards to maternity clothes, I only want to buy essentials and maybe a shirt or two that doesn't fit the "essential" mold.  However, I work every day from 8:30-who knows when so I'm realizing that my idea of just buying three things may not be realistic.

We took these photos early morning Saturday and it was super foggy which is why the pictures are sort of blueish.  These were also the only non blurry pictures...photographer/husband fail!  We were on our way out to go car shopping which my husband says was his "push" present.  He CLEARLY does not understand the concept of who receives a "push" present :-)

Most Used

I remember thinking, "how often will I really wear a polka dot chambray top?"  Well, apparently lots and lots of times.  My Old Navy polka dot chambray top is definitely one of my most used items.  I love when I use a piece of clothing over and over again because I feel it was worth it.  At almost, $20 or so, this shirt is not only worth it but a great price as well.

Thank you so much for all your congratulations and well wishes on yesterday's post!  My husband and I are so excited about this new journey.  Yesterday, we had an ultrasound and saw the heart beating for the first time...heart melted...

Biking Through the Gardens

One of my favorite activities to do in Callaway Gardens is to rent bikes and ride all through the gardens.  We also went to the Festival of Lights this year which is just literally a winter wonderland of lights all through the gardens.  As you can tell, my sister, Adri, and I were in fall/winter heaven.  PS: My dad is going to kill me for posting that goofy picture of him :-)

My husband and I had the day off yesterday except we didn't know it and worked anyhow.  Clueless we are, I tell ya.  I never said I was perfect :-)

Owls in Florida

I've talked about my owl obsession here but now I think I'm just loving all things with actual animal images on them.  I find this animal trend so whimsical and fun that I'm happy I spotted this sweater at Old Navy for a reasonable price.  With trends, I don't like to spend too much and this sweater was right up my alley.  Anyone else loving this animal trend?

McIntosh Festival

Blogger fail.  We were only able to snap two photos before my camera died :-(  The rest of the photos are from my Iphone.  My mom and I love coming to the McIntosh festival every year.  It's a huge art festival but my favorite part is all the yummy food!  We indulged in corn dogs, homemade potato chips, and homemade peanut butter ice cream :-)  Fun fact about McIntosh and the nearby town Micanopy, it's where the movie Doc Hollywood was filmed.

Tomboy

Boys are so lucky.  They get to wear comfy loafers every day if they wanted to.  Admittedly, these aren't the cutest shoes but, gosh darn it, they are one of the most comfortable shoes ever. Seriously.  I bought these at Target this weekend and for $25 they came home with me.  Since I have to wear dress shoes for work, the weekends call for comfort and comfort only.  I could sleep in these...

Basically Basic

It's true, my style is simple.  Is that a bad thing though?  I always go for comfort over style but try to balance the line of trying to look nice while still feeling comfortable.  Although there isn't much excitement with this outfit, it's comfortable, and for me, that's okay :-)

Gingham Style

I feel so out of the loop on what is popular nowadays.  It's crazy to realize how much my priorities have changed.  Some for the better and some for worse.  However, I consider being up to date on pop culture top priority...just kidding...maybe...I just recently jumped on the Gangnam Style bandwagon and if you haven't seen or heard the video/song, I highly encourage it and the SNL skit to accompany.  I don't know what the song means and probably should have found out before recommending it.  Hmmm, I will consider that thought in the future :-)
