Olivia's Nursery

As soon as we found out Lucas was a boy, I immediately began decorating his nursery.  When we found out Olivia was a girl...it took months before I began working on her room.  Instead, I started buying things here and there that I liked and hoped that it would come together in the end.  I really only had two things that I really wanted for her room and that was a gray glider and a mint dresser.  My husband brought to life the mint dresser by painting a dresser that bought at Ikea and I love it!  I decided to not go with a traditional changing table in favor of a dresser so that the furniture is functional later on.  The Olivia banner is one my husband made.  Yep, he made it!  He also made one for Lucas and wanted to keep with the tradition.  I made the mint pom pom drapes out of drapes from Amazon and pom pom trim I bought off of Etsy.  I'm really happy with how the nursery turned out and hope she does too as she gets older.

Weekend Photo Diary

It was a busy busy weekend for us and it felt good to finally be up and about.  For the past couple of weekends, I had been taking it easy since getting lots of Braxton Hicks contractions.  I had an appointment last week with my doctor and learned more about what to do when the contractions come on so I've been slowly working up to do more activities but then slowing it back down a bit.  Since the weather was amazing, we decided to go to Epcot at Disney World early since it's leisure park and one of my favorites.  Thanks to our fast passes, we went on Lucas' favorite rides, Nemo and Mexico, took pictures with characters, ate our favorite food in France and Norway, all before 1 p.m.  Instead of heading straight home, we decided to venture out to IKEA.  It was such a successful shopping trip too!  Since we're turning Lucas room into a big boy room this week, we picked up a dresser for him, toddler eating table, and a dresser/changing table for the new nursery.  I'm so excited for the dresser/changing table!

Sunday was equally busy as we bought paint for the furniture and picked up lots of goodies for the nursery at HomeGoods.  We also spent a good deal organizing the nursery since it has been a storage facility of all our junk from the move.  I also started organizing baby girl's clothes and closet which was too much fun for me.  Below are some snapshots of our busy weekend:

Sweater: Nordstrom (THE COMFIEST SWEATER EVER!)  /  Shorts: Old Navy  /  Necklace: Kendra Scott  /  Shoes: Tory Burch

Lucas: Shirt  /  Shorts  /  Shoes

How sweet is this romper pictured below?!  It's from Bailey's Blossoms and it is just too sweet!  The bow is one of a hundred my sweet Aunt made for baby girl :-)

The kids are all set to visit my little sister and family in NYC someday!  The Yankees outfits are ones my dad bought for baby girl which makes me laugh because when my sisters and I were little, my dad bought us all Yankees outfits as well and we joked that we looked like little boys.  My dad is such a huge sports fan and he ended up with 4 extremely girly girls.  He and Lucas are extremely close and because of my dad, Lucas has more Yankees tees than I think Derek Jeter had!  The Piccolini NYC shirt was just too cute to pass up for Lucas.  These cute clothes are now making me miss the city!  I'm hoping to go for a weekend after the baby is born :-)  The teal shirt is from OshKosh.

Dress: Old Navy (SO SWEET!)

Getting the Nursery Ready

Slowly but surely baby girl's nursery will be coming together.  As I said in the last post, at this point in my pregnancy with Lucas, his nursery was basically complete.  I must have been insane.  With Baby #2, I will be using Lucas' crib and just a few pieces of furniture.  I'm not going to really go with a theme for her room but just maybe try to keep a neutral and sweet color scheme.  I stopped by Hobby Lobby, Homegoods, and placed a Target order recently and here are the things I picked up:

I love pink and mint together so I couldn't resist those crib sheets.  And anyone who knows me knows I'm obsessed with collecting ginger jars so the bunny above from Hobby Lobby was a must.  The basket was a Homegoods find.

I love love these prints from Hobby Lobby!  Hobby Lobby was also having a 50% their art and framing this weekend so these were super cheap.  The Paris print is from Etsy.  I'm thinking I may do a gallery wall above her dresser and include the unicorn pictured below.

I was ready and set to buy the faux fur stool from World Market that's around $78.  As I was browsing Hobby Lobby, I spotted the stool above that is almost an exact of the World Market stool except I bought mine for a little over $25 since I used a 40% off promo!  Winning!

So Target completely nailed it with the new Pillowfort collection!  There were so many things I loved and still would like to get.  For Baby Girl, I bought the Unicorn head pictured above.  I'm thinking it will be part of the gallery wall to go above her dresser that I have yet to find.  For my Mr. Lucas, I bought the pillowcase and fox pillow below to go in his big boy bed.  I think he'll get a kick out of the fox pillow!

Lucas' Nursery Room

WARNING: Picture heavy post!  It's Lucas' nursery room post today so I apologize ahead for the super sappiness about to happen ;-)  For Lucas' nursery, I wanted to not have a theme but wanted certain colors like blues, orange, gray, and green to be in there somehow.  For the furniture, the armoire is from Pier One but everything else is from Target and I'm happy with the quality.  Lucas won't be sleeping in the crib from the get go as we'll be using a bassinet in our room but I feel the quality and price of the crib was awesome.  The walls are gray, even though the pictures make the color look green, and everything else is pretty simple.  I hate clutter and know that when he's here, it may get chaotic so the less I have in the room the better.  Although, baby's have tons of stuff!  Now onto the photos...

My husband was a total superstar when it came to the nursery!  I can honestly say that I had about 5% effort and claim to anything done in the nursery.  He knew what I liked and wanted and completely rocked it!  Not only did he paint the walls, put up all the picture frames, and build the furniture but he also made the Lucas sign and two little bookends!  He's so excited for Lucas and I know he will be the best daddy to him.  I wanted to incorporate my husband's interests in the room as well so I put up a framed picture of him taken during a high school football game.  He was after all named "All State!" - I still don't know what that means shhhhhhhhh....

My sister got Lucas the cutest little back pack with his name engraved on it.  So cute!  Lucas already has a shoe collection so I just placed all of them under the changing table.  To the side of the armoire, I'm keeping the baby bags.  My sister bought me a Petunia Pickle Bottom bag and my husband bought me the Marc by Marc Jacobs baby bag.   The only thing that my husband and I disagreed on in the whole room were the polka dot bins under the changing table - he hates them and I love them.

Here's the only contribution I made - the silhouette frames.  I made them in photoshop using photos of me and my husband.  My husband made the bookends using ceramic sports balls for weight.  The video monitor was a gift from my cousin, Rocio, and sister, Melisa.

Aww, the closet!  Who knew I'd have so much fun buying boy clothes?  Okay, everyone should have known I would have no problem shopping for clothes.  Baby Gap is by far my favorite store.  I can honestly say that I have never paid full price for any of his clothes.  I always wait for the 30-40% off on sales and have scored the cutest sweaters for like $2!  I've never spent more than $10 on a single piece of clothes for him.

That little moose hat is up there on accident but being there will remind me to stick it in my hospital bag.  I'm not a Star Wars fan (no offense to those who are!) but I thought the little metal vintage frames Timmy's brother gave him were cute so up they went on the wall.  We're keeping all the pacifiers we've gotten in the little glass container.  The football helmet is a night light. The blue album is one my mom made me for  mother's day and makes me tear up every time my eye catches sight of it.  On top of the album are all the cards we got at the shower and a little baby soap my Aunt made for shower guests.  The scroll in front of the picture frame is probably one of the sweetest and clever gifts ever - it's a scroll to put the birth certificate in and has Lucas's full name engraved on the outside.  Our sweet family friend gave this to us and I will certainly treasure it!

That's it!  I doubt it will stay this clean for long but at least I'll have photo evidence that at one point it was clean.  If anyone has links to their baby's nursery post, I'd love to see it!  I never thought I'd be the baby gaga person but I've become one of those women :-)
