Summa Summa Summatime

Wow!  How is it already June?!  Lucas finished his first year in school and I can't believe it.  I'm so sad that he'll have a new teacher soon since we loved his first teacher so much!  Along with the start of summer, I'm in the homestretch of this pregnancy that already feels like the fastest pregnancy ever.  June is going to be a crazy busy work month, my birthday month (no, I don't celebrate a birthday month), and time to finish up baby girl's room.  Things are going to get really interesting around here!

Hey, Baby!

No big deal.  Just looks like I swallowed a watermelon but no big deal, nothing weird looking here.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, I feel so much bigger carrying baby girl.  Getting dressed for work is getting more and more interesting but I just have to chuckle since it looks like I'm smuggling a basketball into the office!

The Green Bag

I'm a bag lady, a proud bag lady.  Always have been, always will be.  My obsession with bags started when I was very young.  I vividly remember being in elementary school and falling in love with my grandmother's Chanel bag.  I had no idea what brands meant just that I thought her bag was really really pretty and I wanted one.  My dream of owning a Chanel finally came true when I bought my Large Flap bag in Paris while on my honeymoon but my love of bags is a forever thing.  Since beginning my career and becoming a mommy, all of my handbag purchases have been with the thought of whether this or that bag would make a great diaper bag or work bag.  I have not made any "fun" bag purchases in forever.  Until now.  When I saw this Rebecca Minkoff Regan bag (NOW ON SALE!!!!!!!!) in the teal color, 'twas love.  I REALLY wanted it.  I promised myself awhile back that I would not buy anything unless it was needed or I REALLY wanted it and I REALLY wanted this bag.  My husband sweetly gifted me the bag for Mother's Day and I couldn't wait to use!  I took it with us to Nashville and amazingly, it doubled as the perfect toddler bag.  I no longer have to bring an entire nursery with me on the go, so I carried essentials with me along with Lucas' tablet, a few toys, snacks, and sippy cup.  I seriously love this bag and the color is gorgeous!  I think the color is called Sea Green but it's more teal/turquoise in real life.  If you are looking for a fun yet functional bag, I highly recommend this one!

Take On An Old Non-Maternity Outfit

I'm over the half way point on what seems like the fastest pregnancy ever and still finding ways to change up my style while embracing my large preggo belly.  I bought this swing dress from Old Navy last summer and it's not maternity.  It's meant to be, well, swingy, so it's perfect and comfortable to wear while pregnant in the Florida heat.  I wore a very similar outfit to this here and I really liked the color combo so I'm happy to have translated it into a maternity outfit.

Transitioning Non-Maternity Clothes

It helps that this top that I bought last year at Nordstrom was already pretty big to begin with because it has been great in adding to what I can wear during this pregnancy.  I haven't bought many maternity items this time around but believe you me, my belly is huge this time around.  I'm finding that tunics have been great to wear and purchase recently because they are pieces that I can also wear post-pregnancy.  Maternity bottoms had to be purchased because, at least for me, there was no way around that.  I don't mind those purchases though since I work 5 loooong days a week and constantly reuse (of course wash!) them throughout the week.  Dresses are also a great way to wear during pregnancy that don't necessarily have to be maternity.  I am by no means against maternity clothes but it's also important for me to be cost efficient and find pieces that I can also wear after birth.  I do have to say though that maternity fashion has come a long way and there's so many cute options now!

PS: Here's this exact outfit worn last year and not pregnant: Non- Maternity Version

The One With the Tent

It's simply that time, folks.  The time where everything I wear will unapologetically make me look like a tent.  I'm actually happy to be in real clothes though after spending a little under a week in bed rest.  My Braxton Hicks contractions kicked it up a notch and bed rest was the medicine.  I am an on the go person, wakes up at 5 and is on the go until I lay my head down on my pillow, so bed rest wasn't as luxurious as it may sound.  Baby Girl is doing great though which is what's important.  So I'll take the tent look over last week and hope it's a trend that catches on!  Or maybe not...

The Lazy Girls Maternity Guide

I've pretty much spent my entire pregnancy thus far in long shirts/tunics and maternity pants.  I think I've mentioned a trillion times how sick I was at the beginning and now, although the nausea is gone (thank god!), I'm now so tired and having braxton hicks contractions.  Thankfully, baby girl is doing great which is all I care about.  Since I'm still working full time, I'm still trying to look put together and this pretty much my go to uniform which I don't mind because they are items that I either wore or can wear post-pregnancy.  My hair and makeup are a different story - keepin' it real around here...

The Perfect White Top

I bought this top before I was pregnant and so happy that it is one that will grow with me.  My tummy has popped A LOT A LOT A LOT more than when I was pregnant with Lucas at this point in the pregnancy.  I feel and look like I'm much further along than I am.  I'm happy that I can still wear the clothes that I love while having a big preggo belly.  I know these days are numbered...

Maternity Work Wear

As much as I'd like to wear leggings and a baggy t-shirt all day every day, this pesky thing called going to work at an office gets in my way.  I was so sick during the first couple of months with this babe that I literally just wanted to stay in bed all day in my comfy clothes.  Now that I'm feeling more like myself, it does make a big difference to put some makeup and a dress on in the mornings.  Plus, if I get told one more time that I don't look well (which has happened one too many times lately) I might just go buck-wild.

Won't You Be My Neighbor

It's been the longest week in all of the land and I wanted to brighten things up and wear this dress that I've had in my closet for awhile.  I've had my argyle sweater for awhile and it always reminds me of Mr. Rogers.  I have to admit that I was so stressed the entire day that I would stain my dress by food or pen marks but luckily there were no stains.  I have to count the little victories.  Happy weekend!

Neutral Palette

This is my version of camouflage.  Almost everything blends in with my skin tone so it was quite the invisible cloak kinda day.  I can't say I hate it though.  I think I may try more neutral monochromatic looks this week to break it up from my all black all the time.  This was clearly something I wore to work and not something I would wear at home...with a two year old.  #whyareboysmessy

Trust Me

It's best that neck up not be shown.  I may or may not have gone to work with wet hair...it was one of those mornings.  Luckily, I did not have any meetings and it was just a day working at my desk.  I'm patiently waiting for someone to invent a machine where I can step in two minutes before I need to head out the door and it will dress me and do my hair and makeup.  One day.

Work Clothes and the Weather

It's now that time of the year where it's incredibly INCREDIBLY hot outside but yet extremely EXTREMELY cold in the office.  What is a girl to do?  Layers and layers is my idea but it certainly does not make the process of getting to and from work any easier when the leather in my car feels like an oven burner.  So that was quite the ramble but just to explain why I am wearing long sleeves, a cardigan, and long pants in 99+ degree weather.  Oh, Florida, I love you.

Sweater Blazer

Last week, I talked about my aversion to my structured work uniform, today it's my aversion to structured blazers.  I can't stand them.  Since I need to always have a blazer on hand just in case I tend to find more relaxed blazers suit (pun intended) me more.  I love jersey and sweater blazers because not only do I think they still look professional but they are comfortable for long days at the office as well.  It may not be the most chic look, but I feel put together and ready to tackle the days work and wrestle a toddler for a diaper change ;-)

If You Like Pina Coladas...

and wearing bright neon at work...The "work uniform" for my profession can be pretty standard: suit and collared shirt.  I happen to loathe structured suits and collared shirts.  I find them to be too stiff and when I'm looking at a 9+ hour workday, the last thing I want to wear that long is a stiff suit.

I was talking to a friend of mine in the same legal profession about how I hate collared shirts.  She asked me if I owned any Express Portofino Shirts.  I had not and, apparently, I've been missing out.  She promised that they weren't stiff and that the shirts were comfortable to wear for a long period of time and she was right!  I, of course, found the brightest most obnoxious (in a good way) pattern but I love how soft the fabric is.  I couldn't help myself with the pineapple pattern in bright pink!

I must admit that this shirt was tucked in during the day but when I snapped these I, obviously, forgot to tuck my shirt back in.  So work uniforms don't have to be uncomfortable and can exist in pineapple print.  WIN WIN!

Necklace Obsession

I have something to confess...I'm obsessed with Kendra Scott Rayne and Rae necklaces!  After my husband gifted me this one and my mom gifted me the one I'm wearing in these pictures, I purchased a pink Rae necklace.  I could buy every color if I could.  Have you ever gotten obsessed with something and wanted every color?  I was like that too with the Revlon lip butters.  I guess I have an obsessive personality so I'm trying to reel myself in on certain things because, yeah, student loans and toddlers are expensive.  Ugh, I hate when I'm responsible ;-)

Pastels

I recently started getting up one hour earlier than I usually do and it has made so much of a difference.  One, it has made it possible for me to continue blogging since I have that extra time to get ready in the morning but, most importantly, it is my "me" time.  After I get ready, I make myself a bowl of cereal and brew some coffee and catch up on my Bravo shows and blog reading.  In fact, have a little bit more time in the morning allowed me to catch up on Tara's blog and see this post which inspired my outfit!

I've always been a morning person but trying to get ready and take care of a rambunctious toddler is something crazy.  Lucas is awesome but oh so rambunctious.  Oh. So. Rambunctious.  I wouldn't have it any other way.

Office Casual

Sometimes, okay, all the time, it's nice to be a little more casual at work on those days you plan on getting tons of work done.  I'm trying to tackle my never ending to-do list so that I can be more efficient at work.  I'm probably in the minority when I say that I love having lots and lots of things to do at work.  Not only does it make my day go by faster, I so look forward to winding down at home and feeling accomplished.  On these busy days, I like to dress down as much as I can without wearing sweats to work.  Sweats and the courtroom?  Not a good look.

Sunshine

Reason #354,890 why I hate laundry...I shrink my clothes.  Hence, the cropped sweater look that was not done on purpose.  Sadly, my only yellow sweater has been retired since this is the only way I could possibly ever wear it.  Oh NO I have to buy another yellow sweater!  But seriously, I do and I'm loving these: J.Crew,  J.Crew Factory, and GAP.

Blues

Blue is definitely one of my favorite couples and not something I have enough of in my closet.  I recently did a huge closet clean out which feels like such a refresher.  I love seeing a cleaner closet and deciding to only buy pieces that I love.  I think this is why I have had a hard time shopping for myself because I only want pieces that I really really love, think I will get a lot of uses out of, and different from anything else in my closet.  Lately, I've been spotting things here and there but nothing too much has stuck out at me.  I'm trying to get out of this rut and it doesn't help that I'm obsessed with buying toddler clothes much to Lucas' luck!
