Saturday Night Live

Live from New York, it's SATURDAY NIGHT!  My sister has lived in the city for nearly 7 years or so and this is the first time I've gone to see her at work.  Unfortunately, it was a show week so we couldn't spend a lot of time with her but she did get us tickets to the show and we got to spend time with her during the live show as well.  The night we went, Jimmy Fallon hosted and the musical guest was Harry Styles.  Oh my were the fan girls hyped to see him!  After the show, my sister took us directly on the stage for a picture and I bumped into someone who happened to be Mr. Harry Styles and I feel like we're practically married now.  The show was so funny and I loved seeing my sister in her element.  She has worked so hard to get to where she is and I am so proud of her.  We had a great time and it was a looooong night for this grandma.  We didn't leave the studio until 1:30-2:00 a.m. ish and had to leave our hotel at 4 am to catch our flight...horrible timing on my end.

Well, that's the last of my NYC recap.  It was such an amazing weekend and a great way to recharge our batteries.  We are always go go go and so much of our lives revolves around our kids and work that it was nice to just focus on ourselves for a couple of days.  This trip also was a reward for major work accomplishments my husband and I recently had so having such a great trip was definitely motivation to keep up the hard work so we can play that much harder.

Central Park

Shock to no one that I went back to the park for a second time.  It's literally my favorite.  Saturday morning, we ate breakfast at the Laduree restaurant down near Soho and walked a bit through the area before taking a taxi up near our hotel.  I was on a little bit of a mission.  I had just recently purchased this bag that I wore the beginning of our trip but I was on the hunt for the one I'm wearing here.  I loved seeing the monogram a lot of other people have but I desired the all black bag as it's something a little more classic that I can wear to work and out and about.  I have been dreaming about this bag since I saw it online.  I went into an LV store in Orlando but they were all out and told me that it was unlikely that any store would have any in soon.  The first day I was in New York, I went to both LV stores and the boutique in Saks had ONE bag.  As I thought more about it, I started feeling guilty about indulging and treating myself.  My husband kept trying to buy it but I said I wanted to think about it even though I not so secretly wanted it badly.  It's strange because before kids, I didn't think twice before I bought something for myself, now with kids, I literally think of every little detail and try to talk myself out of everything.  Sure enough, the next day, the bag was gone.  As we walked through 5th Avenue to get to the park, we meandered into the 5th Avenue LV store, and there it was!  As I was trying it on in front of a mirror, two other women were asking for it and I could hear the women asking the SA if they could purchase it.  It was just meant to be and although it was definitely a splurge and I'm done buying handbags for a long time, it is my favorite bag ever.  I've been wearing it non-stop since buying it and immediately put my stuff in it in the store and walked out (after paying, of course).

As soon as we got to the park, I promptly took out my Laduree macarons (yum!) and walked through until we got to the Boathouse.  We bought some pretzels, people watched, the weather was perfect, and, ugh, take me back!  It was another great day in the city.  In the afternoon, we freshened up at the hotel to get ready for dinner and to see my little sister hard at work at Saturday Night Live!

Hamilton

I'm pretty sure that I'm the last of the Miranda's to see Hamilton the Musical.  As I saw more and more family members go see the show sometimes multiple times, the FOMO was reaching an all-time high.  We planned this trip around the tickets to Saturday Night Live that my sister got for us and, thankfully, Hamilton tickets were available for us the night before SNL.  Score!  It was so amazing to see people camping out before the show and to feel the energy of everyone going to see the show that night.  Although it was my first time seeing the show, I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop so much so that Lucas has some of the lyrics memorized and regularly asks for "Luisito's song" (he thinks that Lin-Manuel is actually his dad, my uncle)  Needless to say, the show was AMAZING and if you are ever able to get your hands on tickets, GOOOOOOOO!!!!!
