Perfect Fall

I took a little blogging hiatus this week but I'm back!  Fall, like most people, is one of my favorite seasons.  I wear sweaters year round but during fall, I don't look like the weirdo dressed for winter in June.  Thanks to Surfdome for sending me this cozy sweater, I've now become obsessed with sweaters that are so comfy they're basically blankets!  Surfdome has many options but I loved this shade of green and I could tell this sweater would be the perfect blend of comfort and coolness as I still live in the ever so changing Florida weather.  Lately the weather has been perfect for comfy oversized sweaters but I've probably just jinxed myself and it will be sweat dripping hot tomorrow...shock.

The Final Countdown

I know, I know, more belly pics but I can't help it.  I mean--it is pretty massive.  And I can't help but realize that I'm in for the final countdown and even though I've complained enough for all pregnant women, I'm going to miss this big ole belly.  I won't miss the joint pain, rib pain, back aches...whoops, there I go again.

Today is hopefully the last hearing I have until I can truly rest and anticipate Lucas' arrival.  Until then, I've been sitting on towels (seriously) and hoping he'll stay in until Monday evening when my hearing is over.  Devotion to the profession, people!

Baby Zumba

The morning we took these pictures, I couldn't take my eyes off my belly because Lucas was definitely zumba dancing in there; hence why I'm holding my back for dear life.  Maybe I shouldn't have eating flan again for breakfast?  Yeah, that's right, I said again.

We had another appointment this week and we got to see our little man on the ultrasound.  This guy is measuring 7 pounds 11 ounces which means I should probably confess something.  I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but here goes...I was a 10.5 pound baby.  I would say 10.5 newborn but c'mon 10.5 ain't newborn.  Karma is coming to get me with this baby.  If I make it to 40 weeks, he could weigh around 10 pounds.  This has given me more ammo to garner some sympathy from my husband.  Now, I've been saying, can you puhleez drive across town to get me praline ice cream?  I might be pushing out a 10 pound baby soon!

Baby Scare Tactics

Happy July!  July is Lucas' birth month and I couldn't be more excited.  Lucas gave us quite a scare this weekend.  On Saturday, my mom and I went to a spa to get massages.  I had the loveliest prenatal massage and was feeling so relaxed.  My mom then made the suggestion to go do some shopping.  While in the car, my mom commented that Lucas must have been moving all over the place due to the massage.  I then realized, I haven't felt him move all morning.  Talk about feeling like the most negligent person on the planet.  We immediately start to try to get him moving by having me eat sweets, etc, all while still in the car.  I quickly called the doctor and she told me to immediately go to the hospital's maternity ward.  At my last appointment, I was told that I was measuring at 37 weeks instead of 36 (I'm 38 weeks today).

On our way to the hospital, we started calling my husband...he doesn't pick up so we try 20 more times until he finally picks up his phone.  When he did finally get to the hospital, he felt so bad he didn't have his phone on him.  Funny story later is that I realized he was in such a rush, he threw a crap load of my makeup, soaps, etc making such a mess all because he thought I was in labor!  As soon as I got to the hospital, I was hooked up to the monitors.  The few seconds it took the nurse to find Lucas' heartbeat felt like an eternity.  Luckily, the nurse and doctor told me that he seemed healthy and everything sounded great.  The problem was that I couldn't feel any of his movements even though the machine was picking up tons of movement and even contractions.  I was asked if I felt the contractions and I didn't feel those either.  My mom then tells me that she couldn't feel contractions either when she was pregnant with me.  Hmm, this will be an interesting labor.  He apparently got into a new position making it hard for me to feel his movements.  The doctor and nurse were so nice and definitely reassured me that everything was okay.

So Saturday started off blissfully and ended with some stress but thank goodness Lucas is okay.  Now that my due date is a week earlier, anticipation is definitely kicking in!

Growing Fears

Ready for a TMI fear?  Since I'm planning on working all the way up to labor, I fear my water will break at the office or worse...in a court hearing.  My last hearing is scheduled for July 8 and until then I have one more scheduled.  So should I bring a towel to sit on?  I mean, how embarrassing if my water breaks during a hearing?  I've asked my attorney friends if their water broke in court but I haven't heard any horror stories yet.  I know it's silly to worry about but I live in a small community...who's going to forget the woman who's water broke in court?  Oy vey.

In the Navy Stripes

I received a surprising gift from my dad on mother's day...this dress!  My dad picked out this dress all by himself!  My mom said that he told her this dress "looked like me."  I can't remember another time that my dad picked out a dress for me so I am very impressed that he picked out a dress that I would pick for myself.

It had to be hard for my dad being the only male in a household of five females (7 if you include the dogs.)  However, I think I got my shopping gene from him because he is definitely a shopper.  A couple weekends ago, he spoiled Lucas with lots of Florida Gator goodies that I'm super excited to put my little boy in.  I posted those pictures on my instagram but they are so much cuter in person because they are so little!  Thanks to his Abuelo, Lucas is ready for football season!

Big Girl Purchases

Happy Monday!  Maybe if I tell myself 'happy Monday' I'll actually believe it.  My husband and I are about done with Lucas' nursery and bought things off our registry that were left.  Luckily, our friends and family were extremely generous at our baby shower last weekend so we didn't have to buy too many things.

We made two big purchases: the stroller and car seat.  You know you're old when you are excited about buying a stroller and car seat.  My husband was grinning from ear to ear and looking up pictures of the two items.  We chose the Britax Chaperone car seat and Bob Revolution SE Jogger.  It feels so good to check things off our list.  Next up is signing up for baby classes...I need all the help I can get!

Abstract Greens

I'm linking up today with the lovely Tara of Mix and Match Fashion for her What I Wore To Work linkup.  As I've mentioned before, I'm cycling through maternity clothes and realize that I have settled on basics.  Lately I've tried to still wear my pre-pregnancy clothes but as these photos plainly show, this poor Anthropologie cardi is struggling!  Oh well.  Small price to pay for a (fingers crossed) healthy baby boy :-)

Spaced Out

Pregnancy hormones are annoying.  I'm the first to recognize that I can be a world class monster biotch and the next second be super sweet (well, to an extent).  What has caught me off guard though is pregnancy brain. Whooooaaaa.  For example, on Monday, I was looking forward to watching OC Housewives on Bravo.  I got my juice ready on my night stand, positioned my Snoogle, but there was still 5 minutes left until the show started.  I decided to watch another channel until Housewives started.  The whole time I'm watching this other channel, in my head, I'm thinking how much I can't wait to watch the new OC Housewives.  I look at my clock and decide to click over to Bravo and the flipping show is over!  I completely spaced out.  What do I decide to do at this point?  Cry. Cry.  I cried.  I cried because I spaced out and missed Housewives.  This was a pointless example but just goes to show how crazy town my hormones and emotions are recently.  Can anyone relate??  Anyone??  Just lie and tell me yes...

Berry Lines

Excluding a dress I accidentally purchased from the maternity section this summer, this sweater is my very first maternity purchase.  Even though this sweater was in the Gap Maternity section, I don't really see what makes it "maternity."  It fits a little looser and longer so those are the only differences I see.  In regards to maternity clothes, I only want to buy essentials and maybe a shirt or two that doesn't fit the "essential" mold.  However, I work every day from 8:30-who knows when so I'm realizing that my idea of just buying three things may not be realistic.

We took these photos early morning Saturday and it was super foggy which is why the pictures are sort of blueish.  These were also the only non blurry pictures...photographer/husband fail!  We were on our way out to go car shopping which my husband says was his "push" present.  He CLEARLY does not understand the concept of who receives a "push" present :-)

Glitzy Bows

Bows, pink, and polka dots...girly girl through and through.  However, I haven't always been a girly girl.  My mom says that when I was a little girl, she could take me to the gas station and I could always find something I wanted to buy.  When I got to middle school, I was such a tomboy just the kind of tomboy that didn't like to play sports.  I was a lazy tomboy that just wanted to wear t-shirts, jeans, and could care less about personal appearances.  It made for interesting photos that I wish my mom would burn but instead she likes to post on facebook to taunt me, I'm sure.

Sweet Everythings

I'm going to be sweet and sappy today...doesn't happen often.  Here goes.  My husband and I have been married for two years but together 12 1/2 years.  We, also, work at the same law firm.  Because we have been together for so long and spend a lot of time together, it takes a lot to surprise one another.  Last week, my husband came along to one of my hearings that was out of town.  The hearing took the whole day and I was exhausted.  On the drive back home, he says to me that he didn't know what kind of mood I would be in and then he hands me his Iphone.  Confused, I turn his screen on and see a shopbop invoice for this lovely Rebecca Minkoff bag!

I've been drooling over this bag for so long and seeing it on the oh so stylish Noelle of Beautygirl24 in this gray color solidified that I really wanted this bag.  I over think every purchase I make but my husband is impulsive.  This time, it worked in my favor because I am so in love with this bag!  It's the perfect size, color, and so versatile (straps are changeable).  What I love most about it, is that my husband bought it for me and after all this time together, he can still surprise me :-)

Out and About

Do I find it silly that I put pictures on the internet of myself?  Yes.  Do I find it silly that pictures are taken of me by myself in public?  Yes.  I do find humor in it that my hubby now thinks of himself as a pro photographer.  What's not so funny is when he tells me to "suck it in."  Doghouse for sure, mmmkay.

Since I wore this on labor day, I technically didn't break the no white after labor day rule.  Has anyone broken this "rule" yet?  Where did that even come from?

Red All Over

I hate that after I see these photos, I realize that I ruined my skirt with the iron.  See, I knew there was a reason I don't do the laundry.  Man, now I need a new black skirt...no luck.  I tried this argument but was told that I shouldn't be rewarded for bad behavior.  It's a good thing I don't need permission :-)

Purples and Yellow

I'm terrible with coming up with blog post titles so I occasionally ask my hubby for help and 99.9% of the time, I don't use his suggestions. Hence why most of my post titles are just names of colors. Take today's post for example...I asked him for help on the title and he says, "What's the name of that purple McDonald's character?" NOPE!  Not gonna answer that for ya hubs because I guarantee I'm not going to name my post after a McDonald's character!  So here I give you my Thursday post, purples and yellow :-)

Sparkles and Green

Since I regretted not buying the green pencil skirt I saw on sale at J Crew two weekends ago when I was in Orlando, I made it a mission to locate another green skirt.  The city I live in does not have a J Crew and since the online price was much higher, it literally hurt to think I'd be paying way more than buying in store.  Luckily, I found this green skirt at Ann Taylor and it had an extra percentage off.  Score!
