This weekend we celebrated Father's Day and my 34th birthday on the same day.  I had written in my planner to "do big things today" but instead I took an unheard of afternoon nap and I call that a success these days!  The day was spent with loved ones and cake - also great success :-)  Hope you all had a great weekend!

Weekend Down Time

Because we are so busy during the week, it would make sense that we would like to just stay home on the weekends but, it has become healthier for all of us to get out of the house and be busy at least one of the weekend days.  It comes to no surprise to those that know us that we are a Disney family, Disnerds really.  With our annual passes and living so close to the parks, we regularly go but on the weekends that we stay home, it feels nice to get out of the pjs and enjoy time at the park or at a kids play area.  Part of working through my working mommy guilt is to feel like the time I do have with my kids is precious and not wasted.  I want my kids to know that even if I'm working, when I am home with them, I am hands on and enjoy being with them.  And I couldn't help but sneak in the bottom photos of Olivia!  I mean look at those thighs!  I'm obsessed!

Floral Peplum Top

Don't mind the headless pictures...it's just better this way...#insomnia

And suddenly we're days away from Christmas.  I, of course, will have to finish shopping during my lunch breaks this year because life.  Oh and I also have not sent out our Christmas cards.  Frankly, I'm surprised that I even remembered to order them this year.  One day, I will have my sh*t together but today is just not that day.

I'm still loving this floral peplum top that I bought earlier in the summer.  Although, I can't find it online, I linked a similar top below!

#NSale Preggo Style

I LOVE this top that I recently bought during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (#nsale)!  I was saving the stuff I bought for post-preggo work clothes, however, this shirt was perfect coverage for this 9 month belly.  I love how soft it is and even more so the price!  At only $15.90 during the sale, it is too good to pass up!

The Flippin' Weekend

What is this?  What is this?  Yep, a weekend where I actually put makeup on my face and clothes other than sweats!  Anytime that I manage to brush my hair on a weekend is a win for me.  This time, I went to my friend's sip and see and for those of you not in the South, sip and see's are common baby shower type parties thrown after the baby is born so you can "sip" (usually wine or champagne) and "see" the baby.  Don't worry, there was no "sipping" for me this time.  As I held my friend's sweet baby boy, I wondered if caring for a newborn would just come back to me.  With my first, a lot of trial and error so I'm hoping for the second time around, things will be easier?  Well, as easy as caring for a newborn and threenager can be...pray for me!

What I Wore to Work Work Work Work Work

Ooof, it's getting harder and harder to wake up early in the morning and even more difficult to move even a finger but I'm in the homestretch and can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I've been scarily and dangerously risking a wardrobe malfunction by wearing non maternity tops to work but I think my time to get away with it is way way over so I'll probably be repeating outfits.  Here are a few outfits I wore to work recently that tested gravity...

Baby Shower for Baby #2

On Saturday, my mom threw us a beautiful baby shower for our baby girl and it was every bit of sugar and spice I could have ever dreamed of!  We are so blessed with a great family and friends that came to celebrate with us.  We had a great time and baby girl definitely got spoiled!

I'm 32 weeks now and this pregnancy has been flying by that I get moments of wanting to savor every moment and feelings of sadness when I realize that Lucas will no longer be the baby.  Hormones are a crazy thing and mine are definitely giving me the run around.  Our world is about to get a little wild but that just makes life more interesting, right?

Summa Summa Summatime

Wow!  How is it already June?!  Lucas finished his first year in school and I can't believe it.  I'm so sad that he'll have a new teacher soon since we loved his first teacher so much!  Along with the start of summer, I'm in the homestretch of this pregnancy that already feels like the fastest pregnancy ever.  June is going to be a crazy busy work month, my birthday month (no, I don't celebrate a birthday month), and time to finish up baby girl's room.  Things are going to get really interesting around here!

Life Lately: Little Sister's Nashville Wedding

Long time no see!  It's been quite a few weeks and I'll try to catch up as I start blogging regularly again.  Throughout the past couple weeks, I've been on and off bed rest due to ongoing Braxton Hicks contractions.  I'm still working full-time, so I've been balancing taking care of my body, working, Lucas, life, etc. so unfortunately, blogging went to the bottom of the totem pole.  We also just got back from Nashville for my sister's wedding which are the photos I'm sharing below.

My sister got married at the Nashville Symphony which was an absolutely beautiful venue!  I was maid of honor and little Lucas was a ring bearer.  His bow tie, suspenders, and Chucks outfit was too too cute!  Shockingly, not only did Lucas walk down the aisle but he was the perfect angel throughout the ceremony and sat quietly on my sister, Ana's lap.  I didn't want to jinx it so I tried not to make eye contact with him!

We had such a great time spending time with family and celebrating Melisa and Jeremy.  It was also special to spend Mother's Day in Nashville with all of my family.

Shirt: Nordstrom  /  Pants: GAP  /  Shoes: Nordstrom  /  Necklace: Kendra Scott  /  Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (my mother's day gift and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!! The color is to die for!)

Lucas sitting quietly as the girls got their hair and makeup done.  Can you tell that I emphasize when he's quiet?  He's definitely a firecracker!

I mean...I mean...

Lucas was in heaven with his Aunties!

Mom, sisters, and I

FYI Finding a maid of honor dress to wear at 7 months pregnant was no easy task but I went with this similar J.Crew dress and had it altered like no other.

The happy married couple.

This was such a sweet gift from my sister!  She and I love this Burberry perfume and she had it engraved which makes it extra special :-)

Weekend Photo Diary

It was a busy busy weekend for us and it felt good to finally be up and about.  For the past couple of weekends, I had been taking it easy since getting lots of Braxton Hicks contractions.  I had an appointment last week with my doctor and learned more about what to do when the contractions come on so I've been slowly working up to do more activities but then slowing it back down a bit.  Since the weather was amazing, we decided to go to Epcot at Disney World early since it's leisure park and one of my favorites.  Thanks to our fast passes, we went on Lucas' favorite rides, Nemo and Mexico, took pictures with characters, ate our favorite food in France and Norway, all before 1 p.m.  Instead of heading straight home, we decided to venture out to IKEA.  It was such a successful shopping trip too!  Since we're turning Lucas room into a big boy room this week, we picked up a dresser for him, toddler eating table, and a dresser/changing table for the new nursery.  I'm so excited for the dresser/changing table!

Sunday was equally busy as we bought paint for the furniture and picked up lots of goodies for the nursery at HomeGoods.  We also spent a good deal organizing the nursery since it has been a storage facility of all our junk from the move.  I also started organizing baby girl's clothes and closet which was too much fun for me.  Below are some snapshots of our busy weekend:

Sweater: Nordstrom (THE COMFIEST SWEATER EVER!)  /  Shorts: Old Navy  /  Necklace: Kendra Scott  /  Shoes: Tory Burch

Lucas: Shirt  /  Shorts  /  Shoes

How sweet is this romper pictured below?!  It's from Bailey's Blossoms and it is just too sweet!  The bow is one of a hundred my sweet Aunt made for baby girl :-)

The kids are all set to visit my little sister and family in NYC someday!  The Yankees outfits are ones my dad bought for baby girl which makes me laugh because when my sisters and I were little, my dad bought us all Yankees outfits as well and we joked that we looked like little boys.  My dad is such a huge sports fan and he ended up with 4 extremely girly girls.  He and Lucas are extremely close and because of my dad, Lucas has more Yankees tees than I think Derek Jeter had!  The Piccolini NYC shirt was just too cute to pass up for Lucas.  These cute clothes are now making me miss the city!  I'm hoping to go for a weekend after the baby is born :-)  The teal shirt is from OshKosh.

Transitioning Non-Maternity Clothes

It helps that this top that I bought last year at Nordstrom was already pretty big to begin with because it has been great in adding to what I can wear during this pregnancy.  I haven't bought many maternity items this time around but believe you me, my belly is huge this time around.  I'm finding that tunics have been great to wear and purchase recently because they are pieces that I can also wear post-pregnancy.  Maternity bottoms had to be purchased because, at least for me, there was no way around that.  I don't mind those purchases though since I work 5 loooong days a week and constantly reuse (of course wash!) them throughout the week.  Dresses are also a great way to wear during pregnancy that don't necessarily have to be maternity.  I am by no means against maternity clothes but it's also important for me to be cost efficient and find pieces that I can also wear after birth.  I do have to say though that maternity fashion has come a long way and there's so many cute options now!

PS: Here's this exact outfit worn last year and not pregnant: Non- Maternity Version

The Perfect White Top

I bought this top before I was pregnant and so happy that it is one that will grow with me.  My tummy has popped A LOT A LOT A LOT more than when I was pregnant with Lucas at this point in the pregnancy.  I feel and look like I'm much further along than I am.  I'm happy that I can still wear the clothes that I love while having a big preggo belly.  I know these days are numbered...

Weekend Photo Diary

The weekend started out on a somber note as we watched on tv the horrifying events happening in Paris.  Paris holds a special place in my heart.  My entire adolescence, I dreamed and prepared for an imaginary trip to Paris so much so that I opted to take French classes 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.  A dream was finally fulfilled when my husband and I honeymooned in Paris for what was the most magical week and a half of my whole life.  It was devastating to see the heinous acts committed to such a beautiful place and people.  I'm sure others can also relate that it was a somber weekend.

To the most superficial transition of topics, I wore the above outfits Saturday AND Sunday.  I did do laundry on Saturday so my clothes weren't dirty, but for reals, two days in a row.  I love these leggings from Nordstrom and my long sweater is a MUST!  It's hard to tell in the photos, but the sweater is a deep burgundy and so incredibly soft.  On Saturday, I ventured out during Lucas' nap to do...shhhh...more christmas decoration shopping...shhhhh.  My husband made me promise to not decorate until after Thanksgiving but I couldn't help myself.  I started with the snowflake pillow I mentioned last week and for a whole week, the hubs didn't notice.  So on Saturday, I couldn't help myself and bought the multicolor deer pillow from Target, ornaments from Michaels, and the chair covers from the dollar store.  I think I would have been in the clear if it wasn't for the chair covers.  Yeah, the chair covers gave me away so now I really had to promise I wouldn't decorate...until next weekend ;-/

In case you are wondering what it's like to be the mom of a rambunctious two year old boy, here's a glimpse into what it's like 100% of the time.  #carseverywhere #legoseverywhere #knockingintowallsallthetime

Fall Plaid

I think I've complained enough on this blog over how busy and blah I've been feeling lately.  And what do I do to get out of a blah funk?  Why shopping and chop my hair off of course!  But seriously, I hardly shop for myself anymore and when I do, it's something that I really love and/or need.  This sweater fell into the really really want category and it's true, I really really love it.  As for my hair, I've been loving short hair lately and felt like a trim was in order to boost up my spirits.  As superficial as it sounds, these did the trick and I have a little more pep in my step these days :-)

I Am Very Busy

So what does it look like when I plan on shutting my office door, hoping to see absolutely no one, but needing to get a million and one things checked off my to do list?  Exhibit A and B for you to see.  This is a casual don't look at me but check on me at 5 p.m. if I haven't left yet kinda look.  It's obviously not the best, but I'm keeping it real over here and letting you know...I gots sh*t to do and I mean business.
