Fashionspirations: Feeling Lucky

Fact:  I found the perfect solution to give me the will to go to the gym today and put down the bag of Muddy Buddies...I cropped a picture of myself next to a skinny model and put it on the internet.  Now, I know what works!

I have been seriously lacking in the thinking for myself department this week and have looked to Lucky Magazine for inspiration.  I put a sticky on this photo from the issue with Leighton Meester on the cover because I knew it would come in handy on days like this.  I just recently purchased this skirt from JC Penney for only $14.  I've been meaning to wear it and thought it would work well with this inspiration.

Lacey Court Days

It's another court appearance day and it looks like these days will be happening a lot this week. In my many attempts to spruce up my court outfits, I decided to wear this lace top with a blazer of course.  Color was limited to my necklace and lipstick...baby steps, baby steps.

Simple Staples

Sometimes wearing simple basic staples such as a white button down and black skirt just makes my life easier.  Not that getting dressed in the morning is a hassle for me or anything.  However, there are those mornings where I've slept in 20 minutes over my normal wake up time and I don't have much time to think about what I want to wear.  Hence, white shirts and black skirts come to the rescue :-)

Colorful Blazers

Today I'm linking up with Marionberry Style's Trend of the Month Challenge.  This month's challenge was colorful blazers.  I do own many blazers but, unfortunately, they're all either black or gray.  I do realize that this blazer is not a bright bright pink but I do think I'm starting to ease into the idea of incorporating more colorful blazers into my wardrobe and try to incorporate them into my courtroom attire.  I'd love for some advice on where to find quality colorful blazers since I do kind of beat up my blazers :-/

Leopard and Pink Basics

This week has flown by, thankfully.  Unfortunately, the packing that the hubby and I have been procrastinating on must get done this weekend since we're moving next Saturday.  We keep thinking that because we're only move a mile down the road we can make multiple trips if we don't finish packing but this is pure laziness talking.  Hubby actually said to me that maybe I should lessen the shopping trips so we don't have to move so much stuff next week...that man be crazy!

Dusty Golds and Greens

Things I learned Friday: After looking at these photos taken in the afternoon, I apparently spend a lot of time sitting on my legs at work and end up with wrinkly pants.  So professional...

We have a fun weekend planned but I don't know what the plans are...hmmm.  Monday is my birthday so hubby said that he is taking me somewhere some day this weekend or Monday but I'm not to know any specifics other than that.  He's always good at planning surprises so I'm excited to find out what he has planned!  I hope everyone has a great weekend :-)

Elementary School

I feel like I wore something similar to this in kindergarten.  I spent much of my elementary school years in mismatched rainbow colored outfits with jelly shoes and a big flower hat (think Blossom). Real cool I tell ya.  By the time I reached my mid twenties, I maybe had three shirts in my closet that had some sort of color on them.  Now, as I approach my 30s (shhhh!), I find myself wanting to channel my elementary school wardrobe but I'll leave the jelly shoes and big flower hat at home ;-)

Fashionspirations: Blogger Style

Ever since I started reading fashion and lifestyle blogs a couple years ago, I found myself being inspired by other bloggers to make the extra effort to look nice in the morning even if I didn't feel like it.  Reading other blogs has also inspired me to incorporate more color into my wardrobe that was once 90% black or white.  

One of my favorite bloggers, Skylette from Sequins and Stilettos, wore this outfit recently and, as you can tell,  I was more than inspired by it since I nearly copied it to the tee!  Skylette has such great style!  Whereas, before, I probably would have just worn black pants, but seeing Skylette wear her striped top with colored pants opened my horizons :-)   Has anyone else been inspired by something you saw on a blogger, pinterest, etc?

Spotted

I've come to realize that the older I get, the more drawn I am to styles I wore when I was younger...like toddler younger.  Not literally, but I am definitely more drawn to polka dots and bows more and more and more...will it stop?  Probably not but I'm okay with that :-)

Flowers and Lace

I am clearly loving JC Penney skirts right now.  In one trip, I snatched up this skirt and two others and I'm loving all of them!  This is my first time owning a pink skirt and I have to say I'm pretty obsessed.  I ordinarily wouldn't wear a bright color if I know I'm going into court, depositions, etc, and since today I didn't have any of those things on my calendar I decided to wear this skirt.  Well, I get to work today and my boss pops in my office and asks if I'll go to depositions this morning...hmm, pink skirt, lace top, and a big flower necklace...not too intimidating I thought.  However, I threw on a black blazer and it surprisingly came together nicely.  This means more colored skirts for me now :-)

Dainty and Minty Skirts

It's no secret to those who know me or see me everyday at work that I love pleated skirts.  This one from JC Penney caught my eye because of the color.  Most of my skirts are some sort of dark color but I'm venturing out into colors purposefully.  I'm not quite sure if the skirt can be called mint because it is more in between of mint and powder blue.  It actually reminds me of the pistachio macarons my little sister brought back for me last night from the new Laduree boutique that opened in NYC.  I think I've consumed more than a dozen macarons this month but I am in NOOOOO way shape or form complaining :-)

Pink Charming

 I started feeling a little sickly yesterday which carried on into today.  Whenever I'm feeling sickly and have to be in the office, I wear something that I am most comfortable in which to me are pants and a sweater.  It's fuss free and comfy which are things I long for the most on days when I'm sickly...well, besides being home in my pj's watching Bravo reruns all day long...

Teal and Cream

I'm actually not sure what to call this color but that it's been one of my favorites for the past couple of years.  I even had my bridesmaids dresses in this color despite my wedding "colors" being ivory and black.  
It was really foggy out this morning which continued on the rest of the day.  It almost looks like I have clouds behind me!  It makes pictures kind of interesting but I hate driving to work through it :-(
