Neutral Palette

This is my version of camouflage.  Almost everything blends in with my skin tone so it was quite the invisible cloak kinda day.  I can't say I hate it though.  I think I may try more neutral monochromatic looks this week to break it up from my all black all the time.  This was clearly something I wore to work and not something I would wear at home...with a two year old.  #whyareboysmessy

I'm Not Perfect

It's been quite the week.  Quite the week.  I recently, like within the week recently, got into the whole planner craze.  I ordered my Erin Condren planner in July and it arrived a week or two ago.  I ordered tons of stickers and really plan (ha) on making this work.  The biggest anxiety I get is not getting things done accordingly, not having enough hours in the day, and, Lucas, of course.  I'm constantly asking myself how others seem to have it all or else appear like they have it all.  I'm pretty hard on myself for being a full time working mom and I know the song and dance can seem like I'm always talking about the struggle of being a full time working mom but it really is no joke.  I would prefer to be with my son 24/7 so if I'm at work or away from him, it better be worth it.  For right now, it's the best decision for our family for me to continue working plus, I like what I do.  The whole point of this rant and these pictures is that most days, I'm just running out the door barely catching my breath.  So my hair isn't perfectly straight, my room isn't tidy, and an oversized shirt is enough to make me feel put together.  And for some reason, I think it's appropriate to post these and my random thoughts on the internet because, heck (yes, heck) it's okay to be imperfect.

I literally just thought dumped this post...please tell me this is normal ;-)

Tale of A 32 Year Old Shopping at Forever 21

Once upon a time, there was a 32 year old woman (let's call her "Naria") and she was reading Tara's Bargain Saturday blog post one day wherein she linked the most exquisite top.  Naria said "I need it."  Naria clicked on the link to the much wanted/needed top and the 32 year old Naria found herself being taken to the Forever 21 website.  Ok, I can't keep this story up but yes, at 32 years old I longed for a Forever 21 top.  Now, college even law school me rocked Forever 21 like nobody's business but I haven't shopped there in forever 21 (see what I did there) but I had to do it.  I had to have it.  Plus, Tara liked it and Tara's awesome!  I opened my package, tried it on, and luuurrrvvveed it.  Lurve, people.  And at like $15, my wallet and husband loves it even more!

Work After Vacation

Going back to work after being off for a week was hard.  I really love my job but the work that built up has been cray-to-the-cray.  I have not had a week off from work since my honeymoon.  I worked during my maternity leave with Lucas so it wasn't really time off from work.  Anywho, I opted to dress comfortably last week since I knew I was going to be tied down to my chair for awhile.  But am I the only weirdo masochist that likes to be super busy at work?

Completely Pantsless

Well, not really but I'm so pale that the pants clearly make it look like I decided it was appropriate to go pantsless at the office.  I am in dire need of some sun and pronto!

That Time I Didn't Have My Sh*t Together

So I went to work in this get up...a sweater AND necklace put on backwards.  Did anyone tell me?  Nope.  I realized it when I was going through these photos that night.  It was a long 9+ workday too.  Thanks everyone.

Most days I feel like I'm just trying to function.  Just trying to keep all the balls I'm juggling in the air.  From far away, it may seem like someone has their sh*t together, and I begin to doubt if I'm just doing it all wrong.  But up close, it's a backwards sweater and necklace, so maybe we aren't all perfect and it's going to be ok.  How's that for deep on this lovely Monday ;-)

Striped Shirt Problem

So if there is one thing I don't need any more of in my closet, it's another striped shirt.  But I just cannot stop myself.  As much as I tell myself that I only want to buy clothes that I truly love, I just can't help a good striped shirt.  I seriously have a striped shirt problem but I can't say I mind.  I dress for the day I anticipate so I was okay wearing a tee to work as I hoped to stay put in my chair and gets tons of stuff completed.  So another striped shirt was necessary ya know.

Office Casuals

It's not denim.  It's chambray and, therefore, okay for the office, right?  Admittedly, I wore this on Friday so if someone did say something (not that anyone would) I could say it's chambray!  I own way too many chambray shirts for my own good and I'm mulling over owning these chambray pants.  I'm trying to decide if they are too 80s or toddler looking pants.  I guess I'll have to go in stores to try them on but these days I can't find myself physically going shopping anymore.  First world problems, you see.

If You Like Pina Coladas...

and wearing bright neon at work...The "work uniform" for my profession can be pretty standard: suit and collared shirt.  I happen to loathe structured suits and collared shirts.  I find them to be too stiff and when I'm looking at a 9+ hour workday, the last thing I want to wear that long is a stiff suit.

I was talking to a friend of mine in the same legal profession about how I hate collared shirts.  She asked me if I owned any Express Portofino Shirts.  I had not and, apparently, I've been missing out.  She promised that they weren't stiff and that the shirts were comfortable to wear for a long period of time and she was right!  I, of course, found the brightest most obnoxious (in a good way) pattern but I love how soft the fabric is.  I couldn't help myself with the pineapple pattern in bright pink!

I must admit that this shirt was tucked in during the day but when I snapped these I, obviously, forgot to tuck my shirt back in.  So work uniforms don't have to be uncomfortable and can exist in pineapple print.  WIN WIN!

The Day My Toddler Threw Up All Over Me

This "the day my toddler..." could become a weekly series it seems like.  Hopefully, not since they usually involve me in a panic.

I've always been on the hunt for a cargo type blazer that I could wear to the office.  I squealed when I saw this jacket pop up online at Loft and decided to order up for a looser fit.  I'm glad I did because after I picked up Lucas after work and walked through the front door carrying him on my hip, he projectile vomited all over my jacket and shirt.  Yep.  So after a wash, the jacket shrunk a little bit but I still like the fit.  See, Lucas was just watching out for you guys so you know prior to purchasing how the jacket holds up in the wash!  Sweet boy.

FYI, he's feeling much better ;-)

Red All Over

I hate that after I see these photos, I realize that I ruined my skirt with the iron.  See, I knew there was a reason I don't do the laundry.  Man, now I need a new black skirt...no luck.  I tried this argument but was told that I shouldn't be rewarded for bad behavior.  It's a good thing I don't need permission :-)
