I think I may have been in the minority of those school kids that actually wanted to wear uniforms. I never had to wear a uniform but something about the plaid always appealed to me. I would have gotten tired of them just like when I was a Brownie and never wanted to wear the brown uniform but since the grass is always greener, I secretly wanted uniforms.
When I was in middle school, there was a strict dress code that required the use of a belt if you had belt loops. Well, one day I went to school in overalls that had, yep, belt loops and I,
of course, did not wear a belt. My friend and I were both called into the office for not wearing a belt. Neither of our moms would come bring us a belt so we did the next best thing...cut the loops off. This has
obviously scarred me in life (this dress has loops attached) and is probably why I just wanted uniforms instead of having to wear a belt with my overalls...priorities.
