Personal Style

There's something about polka dots and stripes that always draws me in.  I recently did a closet cleaning extravaganza and had the intent to get rid of anything that I didn't love and in doing so, realized that I have a crap ton of the same stuff: stripes, polka dots, and chambray.  Now, in rebuilding a bit my closet, I hope to find a new style I love without compromising my own personal style.

I've read a lot of other bloggers writing about the way personal style blogging has changed.  I admit that when I first starting blogging, I thought more about what others would find interesting for me to wear and tailored my own style based on what was popular.  I started this blog to share my personal style and to be inspired so when I found myself considering what was popular over what I liked, I started to not like blogging as much.  As cliche as this is about to sound, as soon as I began growing my pregnancy belly and when Lucas was born, I embraced my own likes and dislikes regardless if others were wearing it.  Now, I'm not saying I'm some sort of innovator as I think my style is pretty safe and simple, I love it and that's what's important.  I don't think I will ever quit my career to blog full-time (I worked pretty darn hard to get where I am!) but I'm having fun sharing these pictures of my clothes for the time being...as silly as that may sound.  Rant OVER :-)

Uh ohs

Does anyone else ever think that wearing navy and black together feels like an uh oh?  I mostly do but because the blue was a little brighter than the dark slacks, I felt it was okay.  I've also uh oh'ed on my resolution to blog more but with good excuse.  It's trial week and mostly January is general going to be pretty chaotic but I'm trying to keep up with my resolutions.  Please tell me I'm not the only one slacking on resolutions...

Hearts and Bows

Christmas has come and gone and it's now back to work.  It's so sad when Christmas is over since I get so excited about the house decorated and lighted, my sisters in town, and Christmas Eve and morning.  I'm in full denial that the year is near over so I'm already making plans for 2015 to get me motivated.  When I was pregnant, I pretty much stopped shopping for clothes (for me anyways).  Now that Lucas is a toddler, our house is nearly done decorating, and travel plans have been made, I'm finding myself getting that itch to update my closet.  Luckily, it came at a time where almost all of my favorite store were running major promos.  So between updating my wardrobe and obsessing over home decorating, the delivery man and I are going to be best buds!  Oh and that's another thing, I can't physically shop anymore, can't do it, won't do it.  Sooo ebates and I are becoming quite the BFFs!

Checkered Grids

Christmas is just one whole week away and I couldn't be more thrilled.  Luckily, I did almost 95% of my Christmas shopping on Amazon.com and barely had to spend time in the stores.  Score!  This holiday season has been so special because of the obvious that it's Lucas' first Christmas but also because all my sisters will be in town.  Lucas also went to his first playdate on Sunday which was so fun.  We took a group photo of all the babies together which was probably the cutest thing I've ever seen!  Lucas, of course, wanted to grab other babies, and, as a first time mom, this mortified me.  Thankfully, no babies were harmed :-)

Wednesday Adams

Black continues to be my go to color and with my fair pale skin, I have to be careful so I don't go around looking like a zombie.

This past weekend, I took out all my fall decorations and lit yummy candles (this one's my favorite!).  Something about fall decorations and cinnamon apple scented candles always puts me in a good mood.  This weekend, we plan on taking Lucas to a pumpkin patch and I couldn't be more excited.  Although I love Christmas season, October is probably my favorite month.  I look forward to the annual Oktoberfest festivities, fall festival, and Halloween.  October might be my husband's least favorite month because I self-imposed an annual tradition of watching Hocus Pocus on Halloween while eating worms in dirt (chocolate pudding with oreo crumbs on top and gummy worms swirled in).  That just happens to be my favorite tradition :-)

I really can't believe that we are in October?!  Seriously, where does the time go?

Double Trouble Stripes

It's now been a week since I've been back at work and I'm still heartbroken.  I work from home on Mondays which makes things a little easier but I definitely had a loooong ugly cry Monday evening as I started preparing things for the morning.  Once I am at the office, it is not so bad.  Luckily, I've literally been in court every day this week which makes the day go by quicker.  My mom sends my lots of pictures and videos throughout the day and that helps as well.  Hopefully, once we get into more of a routine, I won't feel like such a monster when I drop him off at my parent's house in the morning.  Once thing is for sure, this weekend will be spent snuggling lots and lots with my little guy...and maybe checking out the Phillip Lim collection at Target ;-)

Simple Grays

Thank you for the birthday love!  30 is already shaping up to be a good year.  My mom and I have decided that this baby is coming way earlier than my mid July due date which my feet are thankful for.  They are so tired of the only two pairs of shoes that barely fit!

Linking up today with the lovely Tara of Mix and Match Fashion!

Dirty Thirty Birthday

Today is my 30th birthday...yikes! Yesterday was the last day I could say I'm in my 20's, so I guess these pictures accurately reflect that I'm in mourning (only kidding!)  My H says that I'm all grown up now because he's been asking me what I would like for my birthday and I couldn't think of one thing.  Old Maria probably had a list of possible birthday gifts (I'm a brat and I know this) but this year all I could think of was dinner and sleep!  So I guess I went from being 29 years old to 80 years old.  This year will be one of the best years of my life and I'm so looking forward to this next chapter.

To quote a Tim McGraw song, for "my next thirty years, I'm gonna have some fun, try to forget about all the crazy things I've done.  Maybe now I've conquered all my adolescent fears and I'll do better in my next thirty years...my next thirty years, will be the best years of my life.  Raise a little family and hang out with my [husband].  Spend precious moment with the ones that I hold dear.  Make up for lost time here in my next thirty years."

Rainy Days

It's suppose to be raining here all weekend but, thankfully, I have an indoors weekend planned out for me.  Lots of packing and cleaning planned but we will try to venture out to the movie theaters.  Happy weekend!

Blue Skies

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!  It's  hard to go back to the office after a long weekend but it always helps to know that at the end of the day, I have a lil doxie to snuggle with and DVR to look forward to :-)

Spotted

I've come to realize that the older I get, the more drawn I am to styles I wore when I was younger...like toddler younger.  Not literally, but I am definitely more drawn to polka dots and bows more and more and more...will it stop?  Probably not but I'm okay with that :-)

Shades of Blue

My hubby and I spent Sunday morning the best way we know how...sleeping in then eating breakfast at one of our favorite local restaurants, Sisters.  I love eggs benedict and Sisters definitely kicks it up a notch by adding roasted red pepper in their hollandaise sauce.  It seriously tastes so amazing!

The Leopard and the Salmon

Do NOT let the long sleeves, long pants, and scarf fool you!  It is hoooottt here in Florida!  But that doesn't ever stop me from wearing what I want.  I may complain every second I stand outside but that doesn't bother me...just the people around me ;-)

Pink Charming

I started feeling a little sickly yesterday which carried on into today.  Whenever I'm feeling sickly and have to be in the office, I wear something that I am most comfortable in which to me are pants and a sweater.  It's fuss free and comfy which are things I long for the most on days when I'm sickly...well, besides being home in my pj's watching Bravo reruns all day long...

Olive and Leopard

Whenever I get super busy at work, it's nice to know that when I get home I have quality television shows to indulge in such as Dance Moms Miami and the Real Housewives of New Jersey.  You know, important stuff to watch.  In all honesty, Bravo and, now, Lifetime have my favorite shows on tv.  Dance Moms is so crazy and I can't miss an episode!  Kind of like My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding on TLC, where the people and clothes are so out there and the show isn't that great but I...can't...stop...watching!
