Six Months Old

This past Saturday, my baby celebrated his half birthday!  I say this every time but, seriously, how is he already 6 months old?  He's now sitting up on his own, cutting more teeth, and reaching out for people to carry him.  I realize I might get cyber-slapped for saying this but my baby rocks at sleeping!  Since two months old, he sleeps from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. the next morning.  I know, we're spoiled.  We have a bed time routine and he knows that as soon as finished his bath, a bottle is soon to come.  Hence why he gets fussy and fidgety while we're trying to dress him since he knows it's dinner time.

We started rice cereal yesterday and he was indifferent at first but by the afternoon feeding, he was all about it.  On Saturday, we'll start feeding him carrots.  I've decided to make my own baby food and my husband sweetly gifted me a Baby Brezza and lots of baby storage containers.  Oh and not only will he start veggies this weekend but we are also planning on getting his first haircut!  I wanted to wait a year but his hair is so long that I'm having to tuck it behind his ears!

Lucas has always been very social and smiley but I love that he now reaches out for people to carry him.  Since he's teething a bunch, he reaches for anything to bite on, my jewelry and clothes included.  Since I'm not a big fan of showing up to work with a slobbery shirt or necklace, I'm so glad to have bought this Chewbeads necklace.  Lucas LOVES chewing on it and since it's a bright color, he gravitates towards it when I wear it and starts fidgeting for me to pick him up so he can start chewing.  I'm thinking of getting it in black or gray so I can wear them more often.  I love that it's functional and still looks nice for when I'm out and about with the baby.  Ladies with teething babies, I highly recommend these!

Five Months Old

Happy Three Kings Day!  So I'm way behind on Lucas' 5 month update!  Life has been fast lately and, I can't say it enough, time needs to slow down.  Lucas has grown into such a fun little personality!  He LOVES to smile and laugh so much that he gets hiccups and runs out of breath.  He's fitting snugly into 6-12 month clothing so he's pretty large and in charge.  He's really into playing and interacting with others so he's very much the center of our world right now.  The working mommy guilt is on high lately since he now realizes when he is getting dropped off in the mornings.  Plus, because I'm not emotional enough, my mom taught him to wave goodbye which makes me turn into mush as soon as I get in the car to drive away.  My mom also told me that when he started to cry a little during the day, she swears she heard him saying "mama, mama."  Tears, always tears.  Fingers crossed that I win a lottery or stumble upon an unclaimed lotto ticket because this working momma wants to be home.

Baby's First Christmas

The holidays just came and went way too fast!  I have to say that this Christmas was the best Christmas to date!  Yes, Lucas enjoyed the wrapping paper way more than any gift he received but it even more than the gift part of the holidays, I so enjoyed time with family.  All of my sisters were in town so Lucas was very spoiled by all the love and gifts!  My house literally looks like a toy store and I'm trying to calm my OCD self down.  Mother of a little boy here so I'm sure there will be even more clutter the older he gets...but I wouldn't have it any other way.

The Men Behind Dainty & Decadent

Today is a very special day - it is the day my husband has allowed me to put pictures of him on my blog!  He's shy, you see, so it is rare to get an okay from him.  I guess he can't ever say no when it's pictures with our little guy.  When I saw these ties on flash sale at Jane.com from The Littlest Prince Couture I knew I had to have them for my guys.  I hope they realize that it will be my personal goal to dress them alike for as long as I can.

I love these photos because you can clearly see how much they love each other.  Lucas LOVES his daddy!  Whenever he's in the room, Lucas follows him with his eyes everywhere he goes.  Lucas loves playing with his daddy's ties and always yanks them down when daddy gives him a kiss. My heart is definitely full with these guys in my life.

And now, without further ado, the men behind Dainty & Decadent...

Thanksgiving Day Family Pictures

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we took family pictures with my parents and sisters.  My little sister picked out the cutest little suit from H&M for Lucas to wear.  I couldn't stand the cuteness!  As for what I was going to wear, I was stumped.  Not to keep playing my little violin, but my old clothes are still not fitting like they did pre-pregnancy so I'm limited with options.  The day before we took these pictures, I saw this picture on Tara from Mix and Match Fashion's instagram and knew it was what I would wear.  Thanks, Tara!

My little dapper man was just as handsome as ever as he obviously channeled his inner Justin Timberlake with his suit and tie.  He loves his aunts so much.  Melisa makes him LAUGH so hard that his body shakes.  And he loves staring at Adriana then giving her a coy smile.  He thinks she's pretty :-)

If you are like me and have trouble thinking of what to wear in the mornings, there's an awesome new website called The Style Up.  After you sign up, you will receive one email each day with an outfit inspiration that matches what your local weather will be that day.  Isn't that so cool?!  The lovely team over at The Style Up recently featured me on their blog here.  I love getting my Style Up emails each night and they are such a big help!

What Would You Wear to See Santa?

I obviously did not put much thought into what I would wear on Sunday's visit with Santa but Lucas...oh, Lucas was fancy...

Those eyes melt my heart!  Yes, they really are that blue and he gets it (and everything else) from his daddy.  My husband is celebrating his 31st birthday today!  On Sunday, we went to visit Santa and it was just as magical as I had imagined.  My parents and sister met us to visit Santa which definitely helped cheer him up.  Lucas cut some teeth this weekend and started feeling more tired than usual.  Having family there not only was special since it was Lucas' first time sitting on Santa's lap but they helped make him giggly.  I loved his outfit so we went outside to snap a few (or hundred) photos to remember this special day.

In case you were wondering (because I know you were!), here's what Santa wore:

I also finished more holiday decorating and made a new chalkboard message:

Four Months Old

My baby is 4 months old today!  He has been so much fun this month.  Lucas has been so interactive.  He loves smiling and laughing with people which, of course, melts my heart!  He's very into toys, chewing on his fingers, and rolling around.  He discovered how to spit and blow raspberries and he does this all.the.time.  We read to him at night and although he does not understand, he's very interested in all the colors on the pages.

Since he was little, one song would soothe him to sleep (Lennon and Maisy "Hey Ho").  Don't ask me how or why this song puts him in a trance, it just does.  My sister played this a bunch when he was little and, to this day, he still loves it.  He doesn't cry a lot but when he's cranky, we randomly put on Disney's Mickey's Clubhouse and he was mesmerized.  So...yes, at 4 months old, we let him watch A LITTLE television.

We love how interactive he is with us and smiles when he sees us when we pick him up in the afternoons.  I'm definitely still having a hard time being away from him during the day while I'm at work.  I'm hoping it gets a little easier.  We love this little man so much!

Superbaby

Hard to believe that Halloween is over!  I love Halloween traditions such as the one I've been talking about for what seems like 6 posts in a row: dirt cup!  This year, I couldn't find any gummy worms so there were gummy bears in our dirt cups this year.  We also had fun dressing Lucas up as Superman!  Holidays are so special now with Lucas.  My mom always made holidays a big deal at our house and I want to do the same for Lucas.  In fact, I may have already started buying him Santa pajamas and other Christmas goodies...shhhhh don't tell my H...

Plaid Daze

Most of my posts lately have been about or with Lucas because, well...he's quite literally my whole world right now.  I've been back to work for about 5 weeks now but I still have not settled into a good morning routine.  Most mornings are spent running around trying to put on my makeup in 5 minutes and make a half decent/presentable pony tail in order to make it to work on time.  Before becoming a mom, I spent most every weekend lounging around the house and although I still do that, we are making an effort to get out more with the baby so he's not so cooped up anymore.  I admit that I was one of those mom's that never went out with the baby before his vaccinations so not that he's been vaccinated, we're having so much fun get him outside more often!

I mentioned on Monday that we skipped the fall festival this year because of the warmth and crowds, but I still wanted to get out of the house on Saturday.  Since Lucas is quite inquisitive these days and grabbing everything (my hair is his personal favorite), we went out for an evening walk and to my parents house for dinner.  As we were sitting on the bench, my husband noticed that Lucas had grabbed a little souvenir, a fallen leaf.  He stared down that leaf and would smile and laugh at it.  I love seeing his little personality coming through.  We have plans for more family outings this weekend and, hopefully, the weather is nice so he can wear more cardigans.  I mean, really?  Cardigans for babies?  I DIE.
