Neon on Weekends

 

This weekend I downloaded the What to Expect When Expecting app on my phone so I can check daily on what size the baby should be, etc.  My app says now that my baby is the size of a head of lettuce...yeah umm...by the looks of my belly, my kid is the size of all the lettuce at the supermarket.  It's going to be a long summer!  Happy Monday :-)

Plum Bows

This is quite the deceiving top as it definitely does not show the massiveness that is my belly right now.  Dressing for work at 7 1/2 months pregnant has been interesting.  If I could wear my husband's pjs/sweats to work (all that will fit me) I would.  However, I can't.  Most of my outfits are very very basic.  I hardly ever venture into my closet anymore since I'm now just rotating between like 4 different outfits.  The old me would be going crazy but right now I just want to be comfortable.  The baby is getting so big that I'm much more comfortable in dresses with cardigans.  I can't complain though.  I've been lucky to have a pretty normal pregnancy with hardly any sickness so if my biggest problem is finding something to wear, I'll take it!

Leopard Lime

Aww, the Florida heat is upon us and my swollen hands and feet are so happy :-/  These shorts and sandals have been in heavy rotation lately.  I'm not typically a shorts kinda gal especially since those lovely pregnancy stretch marks are only on the back of my legs...not anywhere on my belly...only on the visible part of my body.  I've gotten great advice from you ladies on what to wear this summer to make it through the last stretch.  I've started using many of your suggestions so I'm very thankful!

Grandfather Shirt

A couple years ago, my grandfather came from Puerto Rico to stay with my parents for a little while.  I was living in Jacksonville at the time but would come visit every weekend to spend time with him.  He used to wear a shirt, similar to the one I'm wearing, all the time to the point it got a hole in it.  He asked me to throw the shirt away since he couldn't wear it anymore but I must have gotten it mixed in with my laundry since I found it in my suitcase when I got back home.  He passed away shortly after but I never threw the shirt away and keep it on my blanket throw stand for safe keeping.  It's an odd memento to keep but warms my heart whenever I catch a glimpse of it.  Has anyone else kept odd mementos?

Nature Walks

I'm not the outdoorsy type but at the same time I am.  Does that make sense?  No, okay.  Well, I love the outdoors and admiring its beauty but only for so long.  This time of year, when the leaves are changing and the wind is cooler, I love being outdoors a little longer just to take it all in.

Cold Hearted Snake

I think my mirror memorized the lyrics and dance moves to 'Cold Hearted Snake' seen as though I gave the mirror a concert to it a million times.  Anywho, I'm linking up today with Marionberry Style and this month's challenge was animal print.  I have my fair share of leopard print but this is the only snakeskin print I own.  I feel very fancy pants skirts in this...see what I did there...I crack myself up :-)  Also linking up with The Pleated Poppy!

Working Uniform

I think I may have been in the minority of those school kids that actually wanted to wear uniforms.  I never had to wear a uniform but something about the plaid always appealed to me.  I would have gotten tired of them just like when I was a Brownie and never wanted to wear the brown uniform but since the grass is always greener, I secretly wanted uniforms.

When I was in middle school, there was a strict dress code that required the use of a belt if you had belt loops.  Well, one day I went to school in overalls that had, yep, belt loops and I, of course, did not wear a belt.  My friend and I were both called into the office for not wearing a belt.  Neither of our moms would come bring us a belt so we did the next best thing...cut the loops off.  This has obviously scarred me in life (this dress has loops attached) and is probably why I just wanted uniforms instead of having to wear a belt with my overalls...priorities.

Classically Headless

It was a headless kind of day.  The kind of day where I had no inspiration to think, thus I turned to my J Crew catalog, and no makeup to cover up the under eye circles.  My hubby says that my head being chopped in most of the photos was on accident but I know the truth.  You see, there are these things called mirrors and I may or may not have glanced in them one or twice throughout the day.  Bless his little heart.

I'm not one to reapply makeup during the day so that doubled with the fact that I barely even put on makeup in the morning did not turn out well.  It's just one of those days...

Into the Mix

It's mid September...how does time go by so fast?  College football started, Starbucks is selling their Pumpkin Spice Lattes, hubby makes hot chocolate in the evenings, and Bath and Body Works brought out their Leaves candles (my favorite!)...yep, fall is here!

A Hoot

Whenever I visited my family in Puerto Rico and stayed at my grandmother's house, my mom's little sister would lend us her room for us to sleep.  My sisters and I loved sleeping in her room because she would let us play with her makeup, jewelry, and play dress up.  Another thing I really loved about her room was her collection of owls.  She had tons of owl figurines.  Growing up, I took a liking to owls because it reminded me of being young and my aunt's owl collection.  When I saw that this GAP blouse had little owls on it, I was smitten.  Then when I saw how cute it looked on Beach Chic Style, I knew this shirt and I were meant to be!

What wasn't meant to be...all the dry shampoo I failed to properly mix in my hair...holy gray hair!

Unexpected Date Night

So the stripes on this dress are definitely blue but shhhhhhh...don't tell the girl in these photos because she definitely thought they were black until now.

After work, my husband and I had plans for grocery shopping and a Target stop.  You know, date night.  Not really, but since we didn't feel like cooking, we headed to one of our favorite restaurants.  An unexpected date night...until we ran into my mom who was having dinner with her friends.  Small town life ;-)

Pumped Up Kicks

I've shared before my habit of stalking items and waiting for them not only to go on sale but serious sale.  I'm talking 40% off on already 50% off reduced items.  For the longest time, I've been stalking these Daniblack 'Alana' wedges and these Pour La Victoire 'Aeesha' wedges.  Both are the exact style I was going after - pointy, wedge, and nude color.  However, the price point was over I am willing to spend on shoes.  Then one magical day, I stumbled upon the Sole Society 'Kelly' wedge.  It had everything I wanted - pointy, wedge, nude color, AND $49.95 with a $25.00 off first time purchase!  Yep, it was meant to be.  Can I also tell you that they are the most comfortable shoe ever!  I'm considering purchasing more in other colors.

Polka Dot Luau

I wore this Asos polka dot dress to a luau.  That's right...a luau.  Not luau enough for you?  I wore a lei later on in the evening...I could seriously live in cotton dresses all day long.  This dress is being taken to get altered as it's too long for me but it is so so comfy!  Oh and the jacket, yeah, it's in the 80's here (probably because of Isaac) which means it's chilly...hence, the jacket ;-)  Oh and oh!  It's also a maternity dress...but I'm not pregnant so I sized down.
