The Blue Tunic

I didn't much to share this weekend besides getting an amazing facial but ain't no way I'm posting a pic of my bare face on here.  So please excuse the crappy Iphone pics but I LOVE this blouse!  It's a recent purchase from Express and on top of having the most vibrant blue color, it is super comfortable.  I'm a tunic phase of life and this little guy fits right in!

 There's Mia hanging out behind!

Won't You Be My Neighbor

It's been the longest week in all of the land and I wanted to brighten things up and wear this dress that I've had in my closet for awhile.  I've had my argyle sweater for awhile and it always reminds me of Mr. Rogers.  I have to admit that I was so stressed the entire day that I would stain my dress by food or pen marks but luckily there were no stains.  I have to count the little victories.  Happy weekend!

The Wedding Date Necklace

I am in love with this Onecklace roman numeral necklace!  I chose to have my wedding date engraved and all day I was asked questions about this necklace wherever I went - which being honest was work, daycare, and the grocery store.  Personalized jewelry is always my favorite.  I have another necklace that my husband surprised me with the night we were engaged that has our engagement day engraved on a heart pendant.  Although I'm a girl that loves her costume jewelry, it always feel special for me to wear jewelry that means something and I know I will treasure for a long time.  Onecklace promo code maria10 will get you 10% off your Onecklace purchase!

Weekend Photo Diary

Well, we planned to go to Magic Kingdom this weekend and meet up with my cousin and her family but Lucas woke up with a fever which resulted in a Saturday morning doctor's visit.  Luckily, it is just an ear infection and he is on the mend.  But this meant that the rest of the long weekend was spent indoors so it was a lazy weekend indeed.  PS: That kid LOVES the doctor's office!  He stays so still while they check him and as soon as we are home, he goes straight to his doctor's kit to check on all of our vitals.  Hmmm, future doctor or veternarian???

Below are a couple of fun things that did happen this weekend.

My hubby did something so incredibly amazing!  The way I shop is online and I'll start a cart at my favorite stores and either wait for a sale or promo.  In that time, I'm usually updating the cart, removing things, etc.  My husband knows this habit of mine and the other day, knowing I've been really stressed, told me that he bought my Nordstrom cart.  Of course I was excited and then it hit me that I had put a David Yurman cable bracelet in pearl in my cart!  I immediately started sweating as I always do with big purchases but he told me that he had been wanting to get it for me and just saw that I had a couple of other things in my cart as well.  My other cable bracelet, my parents bought me for my high school graduation and I have worn it every day since I opened the gift.  The cable buckle bracelet is another my parents bought me for Christmas and I also wear it every day.  I'm so excited to have another bracelet that has a sweet story attached to it.  Isn't he the best??

My Erin Condren life planner has a home!  On Saturday, the delivery man made my planner nerd self so happy when he delivered the most beautiful carry all clutch.  Yes, my planner also has a case now and it's marvelous.  I had been going back and forth on whether I needed a case or not but since I use it daily and it was getting tossed around my bag, etc, I could justify the purchase.   The case is customizable and I really liked this mint color with the scales print.

I revealed myself as a planner nerd last week and as a proud planner nerd, I must now show you my weekly spread before I ruin it with my work-to-do list:

Happy short work week!

Neutral Palette

This is my version of camouflage.  Almost everything blends in with my skin tone so it was quite the invisible cloak kinda day.  I can't say I hate it though.  I think I may try more neutral monochromatic looks this week to break it up from my all black all the time.  This was clearly something I wore to work and not something I would wear at home...with a two year old.  #whyareboysmessy

The Perfect Summery Dress

This Anthropologie dress is one my husband sweetly bought me for Mother's Day after I kept adding it then removing it then adding it to my shopping cart over and over again.  I get like this lately because I only want to buy things I love.  Gifts are a different story though, duh.  And I really love the dress now.  I think it's the perfect summery dress and, as you can tell in the picture above, is very flowy.  I don't love that I'm hunching over in these pictures but I love a good empire waist dress.  Anthropologie for the win!

Striped Shirt Problem

So if there is one thing I don't need any more of in my closet, it's another striped shirt.  But I just cannot stop myself.  As much as I tell myself that I only want to buy clothes that I truly love, I just can't help a good striped shirt.  I seriously have a striped shirt problem but I can't say I mind.  I dress for the day I anticipate so I was okay wearing a tee to work as I hoped to stay put in my chair and gets tons of stuff completed.  So another striped shirt was necessary ya know.

Weekend Photo Diary: 4th of July

We had such a great three day weekend that I am getting sad it's over as I type this post.  My husband and I had Friday off so I got a haircut while Lucas napped and afterwards we went for a Target run, of course.  On Friday night, we went with my parents to a fireworks show that the town I live in does every year.  This is the first year we have gone with Lucas and I was anxious to see how he would react to the noise.  As you can tell in the picture below, he loved it!  He kept looking up and saying WOW!  Now, I want to take him back to Disneyworld to see the fireworks show probably in a couple weeks.  We even gave him a sparkler for a hot second, literally, because, of course, he wanted to touch the fire.  Our favorite part of the show is when the orchestra starts playing the official songs for our armed forces and asks for those who have served to stand while their song played.  My dad always stands with pride when the Army song plays as he proudly served the army for ten years.  Lucas strangely stood when the Navy song played and when it was over, he sat back down.  Maybe he's foreshadowing the future.  Sunday was a relaxed day and we hit the pool early then did a little shopping afterwards.  I'm so sad the weekend is over but I definitely feel rested for the work week.  Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Running Late

What happens when my alarm clock (aka Lucas) decides to sleep in and doesn't give me my screaming wake up call?  I end up wearing slouchy clothes, very minimal makeup, and what somewhat resembles a ponytail.  Oh, and since I was already late, I obviously decided to take pictures to blog about it of course.  You cannot pay me enough to take these sunglasses off.  Trust that I am doing you a favor.

Because It's Too Hot

I do not like to wear sleeveless tops to the office.  I do not like to show shoulders period.  I'm weird.  I know it.  But it's too damn hot to not let loose every now and again.  I'm so wild.  Anyone else have weird things they avoid wearing?

I have a fun post today to introduce (if you don't already own one) a fun and unique timepiece.  Jord Wood Watches are just that - watches made out of wood!  I cannot get over how cool these watches are.  I tried to think of a better word than cool but sometimes, things are just that cool.  But honestly, Jord Wood Watches are beautiful and something I don't see every day which makes them that unique to me.  Jord has a wide selection of different wood finishes and styles so it was hard to narrow my selection down to one.  I chose the Ely Series in the Cherry color and could not be more happy with my choice.

The website boasts that Jord Wood Watches are sustainable, efficient, and influenced by experiential living.  It is truly a beautiful watch!  Each watch is custom cut to fit your wrist and for the week of June 5- June 12, 2015, Jord is offering free sizing with code DANDD4119845.

My husband even got to partake in the fun!  You'll see in the pictures below a mens version of a Jord Wood Watch.  He's wearing the Sully Series in the Black and Maple color. My husband loves watches and he gave this one two thumbs up.  These would make great father's day gifts!

My husband was so excited to see his watch!  He told that the he and his co-workers had a conversation during the holidays about how wood watches would make such a great and unique gift to give to someone.  True story!  He was very pleased with the fit and construction.  He also said that it has been a fun conversation piece.

**FTC Disclaimer: We were provided the watches to review but all opinions are my own.

Mirror Mirror

Yeah, I need to buy a new mirror and once I do, I need to keep it clean.  Anywhos, I've had a bad cold that my dear son has graciously passed on to me and instead of resting up, I'm in appellate brief drafting land...and clearly not cleaning any mirrors.  Thank goodness for long weekends!

If You Like Pina Coladas...

and wearing bright neon at work...The "work uniform" for my profession can be pretty standard: suit and collared shirt.  I happen to loathe structured suits and collared shirts.  I find them to be too stiff and when I'm looking at a 9+ hour workday, the last thing I want to wear that long is a stiff suit.

I was talking to a friend of mine in the same legal profession about how I hate collared shirts.  She asked me if I owned any Express Portofino Shirts.  I had not and, apparently, I've been missing out.  She promised that they weren't stiff and that the shirts were comfortable to wear for a long period of time and she was right!  I, of course, found the brightest most obnoxious (in a good way) pattern but I love how soft the fabric is.  I couldn't help myself with the pineapple pattern in bright pink!

I must admit that this shirt was tucked in during the day but when I snapped these I, obviously, forgot to tuck my shirt back in.  So work uniforms don't have to be uncomfortable and can exist in pineapple print.  WIN WIN!

The Day My Toddler Threw Up All Over Me

This "the day my toddler..." could become a weekly series it seems like.  Hopefully, not since they usually involve me in a panic.

I've always been on the hunt for a cargo type blazer that I could wear to the office.  I squealed when I saw this jacket pop up online at Loft and decided to order up for a looser fit.  I'm glad I did because after I picked up Lucas after work and walked through the front door carrying him on my hip, he projectile vomited all over my jacket and shirt.  Yep.  So after a wash, the jacket shrunk a little bit but I still like the fit.  See, Lucas was just watching out for you guys so you know prior to purchasing how the jacket holds up in the wash!  Sweet boy.

FYI, he's feeling much better ;-)

Simplicity

I'm in need of some serious color these days.  I've always gravitated towards more neutral colors.  Even my house is mostly gray, black, and white but I'm trying to make more of an effort to add color in all aspects of my life.  I still have a rack of colorful pencil skirts so I may start incorporating them more into my daily wardrobe.  Admittedly, I'm in a clothing rut.  Mornings are usually go go go and I've even gone to work with wet hair (AHHHHHH) but I've turned a new leaf and really trying to get up an hour earlier so that my day doesn't always start out so crazy.  Here's to hoping that the turning of a new leaf adds order to this hectic but awesome life.
