So I put myself on a shopping ban. Yep. That's right. A Shopping BAN! So far so good.
This year, we will be adding a new family member so I want to be smarter about my finances. For as long as I can, I will only be buying essentials. Now, do realize that my waist line is expanding so I did cheat a little by buying a maternity suit. I consider buying the suit an essential because I have to wear it at least once or twice a week and none of my other suits fit. For Christmas, my husband absolutely spoiled me so I consider that to be my last hooray. As for maternity clothes, many family members bought me different items of clothes or gift certificates so I think I'm okay on the maternity clothes for a bit. I'm interested to see how long I can last!
Has anyone else gone on a shopping ban and, if so, any tips?
I did a 3-month shopping ban at the beginning of 2012. It wasn't nearly as difficult as I expected it to be. I realized that I am way too busy to go shopping, so I didn't really miss it. Good luck!
ReplyDeletegood luck with the shopping ban! I feel like I might need to try something like that as well!

I went on one and lasted three days :( I think because it was on my mind all the time but this week I'm on a selling binge, so when I go spend some time with my best friend in Nashville we can go shopping!
ReplyDeleteLove the polka dots and gingham together! I think I'm going on a shopping ban too...I really need to budget and shop my own closet instead.

I'm not sure I'm banning myself, but I'm definitely cutting way back and only buying things I need as opposed to buying things for the heck of it. It's hard! But definitely necessary if you are trying to save for say, a baby or a wedding or a house!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit Maria. You have on the bag I'm saving for!
love this!

I was also on a shopping ban and it was actually easier than I thought. My tips and keep remixing your outfits by pairing new things together, different accessories etc., using leggings, long flowy tops and belts since you've got a baby bump -- and above all -- try to avoid stores at all costs! That's the one that really worked for me b/c if I didn't see new clothes in stores I wouldn't be tempted to want anything new. Also -- organize your closet by color and style so it feels like you can shop your closet every morning. Another good tip that I use myself! xo

I noticed your beautiful Coach Kristin Hobo bag on some of your older posts. It is a beauty, could you tell me what color leather that is? It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm not sure on the color but it isn't the dark brown that Coach usually carries. I think 'Cognac'?
DeleteIt is beautiful! You have such great style! Love reading your blog! Thank you!
DeleteCute ballet flats with a touch of pink! Best of luck to you on your shopping ban!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is so chic! Love that you paired it with that particular cut of jeans!
