Grandfather Shirt

A couple years ago, my grandfather came from Puerto Rico to stay with my parents for a little while.  I was living in Jacksonville at the time but would come visit every weekend to spend time with him.  He used to wear a shirt, similar to the one I'm wearing, all the time to the point it got a hole in it.  He asked me to throw the shirt away since he couldn't wear it anymore but I must have gotten it mixed in with my laundry since I found it in my suitcase when I got back home.  He passed away shortly after but I never threw the shirt away and keep it on my blanket throw stand for safe keeping.  It's an odd memento to keep but warms my heart whenever I catch a glimpse of it.  Has anyone else kept odd mementos?

  7. Cute outfit! And hello from Jacksonville!!

  8. My grandpa died almost ten years ago and he was without a doubt the best man I've ever met. He was a weightlifter and trained two men that went to the Olympics ( he was their trainer before not during) but I live in GA and he lived in NY so by the time I got to go and visit my grandma, everyone had come and thrown away or got his stuff. We went to the gym and cleaned out his locker and that was all mine. His gym bag, workout pants, and a pair of sunglasses and comb. It's nice to hold on to something that makes up smile.

  9. This is by far the most touching story I have heard in a long time. I too loved my grandfather a lot and miss him EVERYDAY! I open your blog every morning and it is inspirational to me. You are a beautiful young woman and more girls/women should look up to you.

  27. I loved that story - it's great to have a piece you can remember him by. I have a silver box my grandfather off hand gave me, but it's one of the only things I have from him. I use it every day to hold my bobby pins :)

  28. Love the color contrast in this look! I have a coin from my grandpa - totally random! :)

  29. That's such a sweet story, and I think it's awesome that you've hung onto the shirt :) I have a few trinkets that belonged to my grandma and after she passed away I really cherish them. Every time I see them I think of her and it makes me smile.

Love your cute outfit, so perfect for fall - the colors are great together :)

  30. Aww I love that story - how special is that shirt? For the longest time I kept my late grandpa's cans of non-alcoholic beer in my pantry. I always thought it was adorable how he drank O'Douls, and just couldn't throw that beer away. I think a shirt is a better memento to have!

And I LOVE your blouse, by the way - I have the same one and can't wait to wear it!

  31. The shirt is awesome in every way. Love the way you've paired it here. Also... parking garage is kind of a fun place for a photo shoot! :)
