Grandfather Shirt

A couple years ago, my grandfather came from Puerto Rico to stay with my parents for a little while.  I was living in Jacksonville at the time but would come visit every weekend to spend time with him.  He used to wear a shirt, similar to the one I'm wearing, all the time to the point it got a hole in it.  He asked me to throw the shirt away since he couldn't wear it anymore but I must have gotten it mixed in with my laundry since I found it in my suitcase when I got back home.  He passed away shortly after but I never threw the shirt away and keep it on my blanket throw stand for safe keeping.  It's an odd memento to keep but warms my heart whenever I catch a glimpse of it.  Has anyone else kept odd mementos?

  6. That's a really sweet story. And what a surprise, I also have that shirt. This is getting too funny. I'm convinced that our wardrobes are exactly the same. I think I found my fashion twin! And the fact that you have such great style just makes it that much better. Love the way you've styled it!

  8. My grandpa died almost ten years ago and he was without a doubt the best man I've ever met. He was a weightlifter and trained two men that went to the Olympics ( he was their trainer before not during) but I live in GA and he lived in NY so by the time I got to go and visit my grandma, everyone had come and thrown away or got his stuff. We went to the gym and cleaned out his locker and that was all mine. His gym bag, workout pants, and a pair of sunglasses and comb. It's nice to hold on to something that makes up smile.

  30. Aww I love that story - how special is that shirt? For the longest time I kept my late grandpa's cans of non-alcoholic beer in my pantry. I always thought it was adorable how he drank O'Douls, and just couldn't throw that beer away. I think a shirt is a better memento to have!

And I LOVE your blouse, by the way - I have the same one and can't wait to wear it!
