I think I may have been in the minority of those school kids that actually wanted to wear uniforms. I never had to wear a uniform but something about the plaid always appealed to me. I would have gotten tired of them just like when I was a Brownie and never wanted to wear the brown uniform but since the grass is always greener, I secretly wanted uniforms.
When I was in middle school, there was a strict dress code that required the use of a belt if you had belt loops. Well, one day I went to school in overalls that had, yep, belt loops and I, of course, did not wear a belt. My friend and I were both called into the office for not wearing a belt. Neither of our moms would come bring us a belt so we did the next best thing...cut the loops off. This has obviously scarred me in life (this dress has loops attached) and is probably why I just wanted uniforms instead of having to wear a belt with my overalls...priorities.
Dress: Kohls / Shirt: Kohls / Belt: Banana Republic / Shoes: C Label Hudson 10 / Handbag: London Fog / Sunglasses: Dior / Jewelry: Elizabeth Cole, J Crew, David Yurman, Macys
wow! that's pretty crazy that u cut the loops off! i've never heard of that rule before!
ReplyDeletebut yes i agree, i have always wanted to wear a uniform as well! i love plaid! <3
I went to a Catholic school and they were pretty strict with out uniforms. I remember having skirt checks to make sure we didn't roll them up too high! Love your look!

Just picturing overalls paired with a belt makes me want to cringe! Haha. I actually always wished we had uniforms in school too- it would have made getting ready each day SO much easier!

That's kind of nuts! ....Because a belt keeps overalls from falling down....?!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh I love houndstooth! Great look, very classic.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the movie Something Borrowed....something that Rachel's character would wear! I love that movie and love the dress! My school didn't have a very strict dress code but I had a teacher send me to the principal's office over a skirt not because the length (it was past my knees) but because there was fading on the pockets and "implied" something. I'm still not sure on that one but keep in mind I was in 8th grade.
ReplyDeleteLove that print, and those studded shoes are great! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteobsessed with these flats! so glad you've shared where you got them.

At least you made it work by cutting off the loops. Schools can be really strict. Where I live, all schools wear uniforms. So I wore one all through my school years and the only plus about wearing a uniform is that you don't have to worry about what to wear each day. When I got to college it was weird having to pick out clothes to wear.
ReplyDeleteLove this dress!! And those shoes are to die for! xo

that is the oddest rule i have ever heard! and why did they put loops on overalls? no one ever wore a belt with them!! except carpenters...a tool belt. anyhow, i love this dress on you!
