I've always adored Stuart Weitzman. One of the most stylish woman that I looked up to was (and still is) my grandmother and she always had a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes on her feet. When I spotted these Stuart Weitzman 'Capsized' Pumps, it was love at first sight. However, my wallet wasn't so in love with those beauties. Thanks to the magic that is Pinterest, I found numerous tutorials on painting cap toes on pumps. Since I fell ill on Saturday and couldn't cheer the Gators on at the Swamp, I did the next best thing and painted my shoes...hmmm, not sure how that was going to work out. I actually really really like how they turned out. They aren't perfect but unless my Stuart Weitzman lovelies go on super super super duper clearance sale, these diy pumps will do just fine.
I used acrylic white paint and a gloss varnish as I used patent leather shoes. I taped up all the sides then applied around 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of gloss varnish. I waited around 2 hours for them to dry then carefully peeled the tape off and voila! If you have any questions let me know :-)

Ha! I would get sick if I had to cheer on the gators too!! Just kidding! Hope you are feeling better. These look great! I've been wanting to do this. Just haven't found a cheap pair of shoes I want to potentially ruin yet! My instructions said to use a metallic sharpie, but I like the white paint.
ReplyDeletewow, you did SUCH a great job with that! love it!
